Gateshead are a really good footballing side, as everyone else has said and they truly outplayed us at the Hive. However, I can’t believe we lost against them from what I saw from the highlights of our match at theirs.
I don’t actually think Oldham are that great a team. They just have some weird hex on us.

Individually Oldham have some good players but haven't gelled yet, players like Tom Conlon who was captain at Port Vale in lg 1 last season and Garner are still bedding in. Their forward options are very expensive! looking at their Website there are 10 forwards with 2 out on loan!7 are proven at this level or above!

Oldham were very good at Maidenhead on Saturday.

Tuesds wrote: 18 Feb 2024, 20:20 Yeah, you can’t know if finishing 2nd or 3rd is preferable to the other, but there’s a world of difference between finishing 3rd and finishing 4th.
Is there prize money based on finishing place in the National League? i.e. get a bit more for finishing 2nd?

Yes but it's marginal - we're talking hundreds, possibly just into four figures I think.

What's the thoughts about the points tally needed to finish at least 3rd?

Before this weekend I thought 83 points and I'd still put it about that mark. 6 wins, 3 draws from 12 games.
I want to be good, is that not enough.

Your post York update is now done. Apologies for the delay, I was running the Cancer Research Winter Run 10k this morning! If any other Bees were giving it a go I hope it went well. One highlight was was one of the pop choirs doing Sweet Child o’ Mine as I went past them after 3.5k which I took as a good omen.

The Top 3 target seems to be about 79 points, but still a lot of time for that to change.

Back after Tuesday night’s encounter.

You must be tired from the run (congratulations on it) - as you’ve done us & Bromley out of a point!

How do you calculate the probable top 3 figure currently out of interest?

Oops! That’s corrected. Thanks for spotting it.

I just look at the form so far over the season and extend it over 46 games. Then it’s the 4th place (currently Gateshead) total plus one point. It’s not very scientific, but gets more accurate as we head to the end of the season.

Aaargh! Thank you. Of course if we’d got something last night that wouldn’t have happened.

Hot of the press … your post-Hartlepool update.

(And I think I’ve got us on the right points this time!)

Thanks for getting this done so quickly. Things are certainly looking up in terms of a top three finish - you would hope that we're able to 11 points from ten games, if that does indeed end up being the required total.

It'll be very interesting to see this after Tuesday night, if we end up beating Rochdale (touch wood!), with Gateshead vs Solihull and Oldham vs Bromley taking place the same evening.
