I know we make jokes about our squadron of centre backs but today showed the strength in depth we have. Oluwu out meant Browne started and Tavares went to the back and when Kenlock got injured Grimwood came on with no notable drop in performance.
It feels like we have a lot of options in our squad even accepting we probably still need a striker and a defensive midfielder

Fantastic performance, really liking the look of Ndlovu. Everyone to a man was brilliant, not too sure why Taylor decided to shush us at 0-2 down but he got what he deserved in the end

Just seen the clip of Evans dropping the ball onto Hartigan then Walker scores. Definitely should of been a goal. Big slice of luck as that would of completely changed the atmosphere and mindsets of Southend.

Agree on their disallowed goal but their keeper was lucky to stay on the pitch with that reckless challenge!

Pretty comfortable apart from their disallowed goal. Felt we actually played better football on Tuesday but we were up against a team that like to dominate the ball this time so made it much harder for us to impose ourselves in possession. We held our shape really well and forced them into areas they didn't want to be in. Nice to score from a couple of set pieces after not being prolific from them at all this season. Our second goal is superb and is mostly down to the work of Lee Ndlovu to drag a defender with him, hold the ball well and get it out wide, something we never really saw from Nicke at all. It was a really well worked goal. Thought Kenlock was immense in the first half and hoping he only picked up a small knock. Taveres was man of the mach for me both in and out of possession. 19 games left, pick up 40/42+ points and we will be in a title deciding game last game of the season in my opinion.

Look at the last couple of matches of the season, I’d much rather have our opponents than FGR’s or York’s. If we’re within a point or two of the leaders come match 45, I’d fancy us.WestHampsteadBee wrote: ↑19 Jan 2025, 10:53 Pretty comfortable apart from their disallowed goal. So good to see us scoring from set pieces again, the third goal was reminiscent of the Pritchard flick-ons, where every time we had a Gorman corner we thought we were going to score.
Felt like yesterday was a complete team performance, everyone had a really solid game, good subs too.
Also helped the goal difference which could potentially be the deciding factor come the end of the season.
Getting Chapman back this season would be huge.

Brilliant performance and result.
Would have taken just us winning but York and Oldham both losing at home was great bonus.
Bit of a gap between us and 4th which is good.

Third goal was the result of a superb flick on by Grimwood for a corner delivered into the near post area. We've not really tried that much this season, but it's nice to see some variation.

Beat me to it. Third goal was Pritchardesque who was so effective at set pieces and set up goals for Collinge / Others.jzsbee wrote: ↑19 Jan 2025, 12:20 So good to see us scoring from set pieces again, the third goal was reminiscent of the Pritchard flick-ons, where every time we had a Gorman corner we thought we were going to score.

Ndlovu showed great vision to play Kenlock back in for second goal.
Steady was very lively again judging by the highlights. Keeper coming out of area was a definite yellow, and he stood his ground in the handbags with Walker.
We have a tough run of games coming up. To get results against Solihull and Oldham two of our bogey sides, as well is York, Rochdale and Maidenhead is going to be a big effort.

Anybody got any idea on the severity of Oluwo and Kenlocks injuries?

One of my favourite away games. Comfortable win with no panic, new signings bedding in really well, 2 of our rivals losing, great atmosphere and Walker having a shocker.
Think the Taylor reaction shouldnt attract too much criticism. He got stick of us, was frustrated and reacted. The guy was nearly in tears when he interviewed against Wealdstone at our 2021 low. He really cared and was completely loyal to us. Compare that with Josh Walker and some of our highly paid 19/20 play-off team.
Everyone played well, special mention to Idris, Collinge and obviously Hartigan oh Hartigan.
2 home games coming up, with York away at Oldham on Tuesday and FGR away at Alty on Saturday if we win both I suspect we will be top of the league.

Not really as that would have won us game at Hartlepool, That yesterday would have just got Southend back into game.

The number of Southend fans who couldn't wait for last season to end because they were convinced they would romp the league and wallop us this year. Where are you? Sure there was a guy who loved frequenting our forum. Let's hope to hear form him. Arrogant fanbase enjoying some well-deserved mediocrity.
Amazing win. Well done Barnet! 2 clean sheets for Evans, unbeaten in God knows how long and Maidenhead at home next, while FGR travel to tricky Altrincham. Top by 5 o clock next Saturday?
Also great to see that even if Oldham win all three of their games in hands, they still don't touch us
