The Kabamba offside tactic
Could someone explain it to me? Nicke deliberately stands yards offside every time we have a free kick; I assume this is at DB's request. Why? He frequently can't touch the ball as he is coming back from an offside position or, as on Saturday vs Notts County, he is offside if and when the keeper spills it and the "goal" is disallowed.

I assume its either to make him harder to pick up if a header comes back across goal and also to get in the way of retreating defenders

Re: The Kabamba offside tactic
This is a normal tactic for clubs to use. He stands as a marker for the free kick taker to show him where to aim the free kick at its highest point. He will never be the target for the free kick, we usually aim for one of two or three men at the far post, who will then either head at goal or back across it.
