Nice interview with Dean Brennan now. Good to hear from him at last.

New keeper arriving in the next 48 hrs. Must be the longest 48 hrs EVER. Should of said we are working hard to bring in a keeper that is what we want and of good quality. But it may take time. I know Brennan stated this but it is not what HK said days before.

Deals fall through, clearly the one HK referred to did. At least we have a fortnight still before the season starts. Fingers crossed for tomorrow's triallist(s).

It's a pity that Adam Parkes has ended up at Dover. He would've been ideal on a season's loan. Anyway too late now. I'm sure a keeper will materialize soon - either a free agent or a loan from a League club.

It's really not very hard to find keepers. There are so many available on loan.

I think the trialist goalkeeper against Tottenham was Emmanuel Idem. He had been on trial with Southend at the start of pre-season

I like the fact we are signing talented players from a higher level. This is in stark contract to the bargain basement action last season.

Yes I remember that. The point I am making is that there is a definite hint of ambition in the recent signings.

Last season was only effectively null and void at the foot of NL - there was still promotion / play offs at the top. Plus we didn't know there'd be no relegation when we signed those players.

Our chairman if you believe him* knew there was little prospect of the league starting and even if it did he knew there would be no relegation and he planned accordingly.

So TK by his own admission hr funded a null and void team and by goodness didn't it show.

* I don't entirely believe him especially his views about the trust and their motives.
