Totally agree, even though it busted by 0-0 prediction score!becbee wrote:There is no disgrace in losing 1-0 to a promotion chasing side, especially with a debutant 16 year old in goal for half the match.letchbee94 wrote:Thought Callan did ok tonight, looked confident and made 1 good save.
Even though we lost I thought players put in good shift
The result was still in the balance right up to the final whistle and that's a huge improvement on much of this season.
So a bit disappointing but we go again on Saturday.
Hope Azaze is ok, if not then surely Loach will return.

I'm increasingly impressed with SB, his interviews have been honest, non-egotistical, and to my mind accurate.
Against Sutton we were hard working, good with out the ball and poor with it. No quality passing and good movement for the player on the ball.
Clearly the players are playing with more spirit, whatever the reason is for that, and he's been shrewd in his loan signings both of whom have substantially improved our energy levels and shape.
As I've said on previous occasions Beard is a real player and if possible we need to keep him as we cull the squad for next season.
I'd like SB to be given better quality support, both under and above him, and we should try and secure a longish term period with him as the lead first team coach. My conversations with AFC Wimbledon supporters is that he is low profile, self effacing and a very good coach with excellent knowledge of players above and below our levels, they say we are fortunate to have him.
If that proves to be the case then congratulations to TK and possibly Fullarton for recruiting a solid, unspectacular man who will be keen to prove himself after being somewhat let down at AFC - perhaps a far better appointment than the high profile types who get mentioned as possibles.
Anyhow, the real test for him and the club will be to sift out skilfully, and critically TK providing the budget to attract some real passing and goal scoring quality for next season.

I worry that TK will say to SB, well you've done ok with the current players so we'll stick with them and save the money. TK has to live up to his often quoted statement "Never, again".
Re: Sutton (a) A Sutton Improvement Match Thread
I don't think so. Virtually all the players currently not in the squad will be on furlough, most haven't been seen for weeks / months. Most will leave in the close season.
Of the 16 man squad yesterday, 5 are here on loan, McBurnie is only in the squad to make up the numbers, he never plays. So that's down to 10 players, 2 of whom are goalkeepers. Even if we run with a small squad next season, even if we are able to sign up the better loanees, new signings will have to be made.

Bassey certainly doesn’t expect that to happen, or else he wouldn’t give a post-match interview like last night’s during which he praised the players for their hard work but said that ‘we’re lacking quality, we’re lacking a lot of things...’ETBee wrote:I worry that TK will say to SB, well you've done ok with the current players so we'll stick with them and save the money. Despite my optimism prior to the game against Sutton, not too disappointed at the final result. It was a very respectable performance all round and a great pity that our young goalkeeper suffered such a bad injury. I wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back next season. The even younger lad who took over in goal has to be praised for his performance against a big physical side who play decent football. All in all a well done to the squad and management.
