I think the opposite. Bring in a couple of decent experienced heads and build round them. As for Beard and Skeffington, I wouldn't be surprised to see either or both of them rock up at Sutton unless SB takes a punt and recommends one of them to Pompey. Hope I'm wrong and somebody points Harry and Dean in their direction. Wonder if Parkes came under HK's radar at Watford.

We have 2 good young keeper prospects, no point in signing another young keeper in Parkes - need an experienced keeper to complement the 2 young uns.

The best teams have a mixture of youth and experience.

If you spend the money on an experienced keeper, you can't spend it in more pressing positions. Loaning a keeper for the season makes far more sense to me. We've loaned keepers before, some quite successfully.

If the Anderson's are still around, maybe they can have a word in Dean and Harry's ears about Skeffington and Beard.
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Probably just speculation but interesting all the same.

Skeffington and Beard aren’t ready to be playing for a Portsmouth team fighting for promotion in league one. Wouldn’t mind getting them both on loan again if they do end up there.

Going back now but we had Marvin Hinton ex Chelsea. Was impressive partnership with ex Watford defender Walter Lees.

Totally agree with this & Beard. Hope we have some continuity with the new team & don't dismiss whatever happened with Bassey.

Can’t think of many teams around our level who have 3 managers in their managerial team. Gary Anderson the 3rd with 29 years non league experience including Wimbledon. Time will tell whether that’s a positive or not.

It's not unusual. Just looking at last season Steve Jenkins had managed, as had Gary Whild. At one point we had four when Davids, Landvreugd, Schreuder and Lee Johnson were here.

Continuing on the theme of full Internationals playing for Barnet, how about this for a team.

Goalkeeper
Jack McClelland - Northern Ireland- 6 caps

Defence
Steve Whitworth - England- 7 caps
Kevin Beattie - England - 9 caps
Mark Lawrenson - England- 39 caps
Bob McNab - England- 4 caps

Midfield
Edgar Davids - Netherlands - 74 caps
Jimmy Greaves - England - 57 caps
Tony Cottee - England- 7 caps
Brian Marwood - England - 1 cap

Strikers
Martin Chivers - England - 24 caps
Brian Stein - England - 1 cap

On the bench
Craig Beattie - Scotland - 7 caps
Ken Charlery - St Lucia - 4 caps

Midfield a bit top heavy on strikers but there should be a few goals in this team.

If you were looking to boost the cap count of that side, Gary Breen got a lot more ROI caps (63) than Lawrenson (and did a lot more for us!), while Maik Taylor won an impressive 88 NI caps.

Junior Agogo deserves a shout in this thread, having won 27 Ghana caps and been their star striker when they hosted the Africa Cup of Nations in 2005.
