So that's where you learnt to make such a good cup of tea?

The centre section of the east terrace roof was there when I first went to Underhill 1957. The rest of the roof was added in the 1960's.
It was paid for by the supporters' association from the proceeds of a football pool they used to run called The Black and Amber Pool.

I learnt to make a good cup of tea when I helped out in the tea huts at Underhill. No tea bags, just large teapots with 4 tablespoons of tea and china cups. I also used to get down to Underhill at about 10am on a matchday to help make the cheese rolls.

LES EASON SCORES AGAINST BATH CITY 1965

The reason I became a Barnet fan?
When this gentleman arrived from Finchley my Dad took me to Summers Lane one week and Underhill the next - when I was old enough I made my mind up!

Oh go on then as you asked so nicely.
I reckon this is 1971/72 ( white stripe on shorts and amber socks) can anybody help me with the opposition please? It is probably early season with all the shirt sleeves and the pitch looking lush, could it be Worcester City? Thank you.
Reckless.

I believe that this is a picture of the legendary Bobby McEwan of Worcester City playing in their blue and white striped shirts with the equally legendary Les Eason

I was at that Bath City match Reckless, prob in the main stand with my Dad. I believe it ended up 3-1 to us, some where in the mist that qualifies as my mind!?
ps That was definitely my favourite kit!

As we're going to undoubtably receive an outpouring of memories, celebrations of floodlights and cheese rolls, we thought it would be good to roll these all into a couple of threads. This way we care share in our collective grief at the loss of Underhill, and also avoid multiple threads.

So with thanks to Reckless we have stickied his Photo Memories threads (for archiving your photo memories!) and with thanks to Warwick we have sticked his / her Underhill Memories threads, and will merge any new threads into these. This way in years to come when we are salivating over South Underhill, we can look back at what we used to have!

So post away my fellow bees...
