Outsanding Old Boy......keep them coming. I hadn't realised we transferred the old speakers to the new stand. See that the NW terrace hasn't changed much.......
Re: Underhill Photo Memories
A little more up to date as I am sure there are many reading this who would like to remember some of the versions of the temporary "West Bank/South Stand" that appeared between 1996-2008. This one is the 2002 version and a glimpse of one of the old floodlights should you have forgotten...........
Re: Underhill Photo Memories
Paul Shinners daring to push Sir Nicky out of the way to score in January 1989 v Kettering, Nicky scored in the game anyway ner ner! Can you spot yourself on the North Terrace (We were allowed to change ends in those days), I can..................
The game was won 3-2 with an own goal in injury time in front of the West Bank - one of the best "stacks" ever!

Paddy Powell scoring the first of Barnet's 6 goals (including a Ricky George hatrick) against the 4th Division Newport County in the FA Cup November 1970. Did you know that the 6-1 is still the biggest victory by a non league side over a Football League team in the FA Cup?

Re: Underhill Photo Memories
I found this at last hidden in my files. A pic of Underhill in 1938 - the West Bank/South Terrace at the far end.
My Fathers first visit was not until 1946 but he told me once that he recalled the rickety all wooden half cover was still there then, before it basically fell over.

This was the old press box and toilet block which was also demolished to make way for the new main stand.

These photos are superb. A lot of these I've never even seen before.
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Re: Underhill Photo Memories
A couple of shots of the new main stand being built. Reckless, if you look carefully at the second picture you can see 2 of the old loud speakers being stored in front of the tea hut.
Incidentally the stand cost £30,000 to build and the money came from an interest free loan from Barnet Urban District Council, repayable at £1,000 per year over 30 years. This was just before the formation of the London Borough of Barnet, and the then local (Conservative) councillors saw it as a way of giving something to the town of Barnet before it was too late.
