Re: Edgar Davids Debut
Someone better informed than me will no doubt correct me, but from memory in the relegation season under Robson we got 3 points from 12 games, while under Davids we got 48 points from 34, which over the whole season would have left us on the fringes of the playoffs. And there was some decent footbal...

Re: Kings Lynn (Away) The Outer Linnets Match Thread
So the choice between taking it seriously as a gesture of pride or trying to avoid injury just in case? It's a tough one for them.

Re: Kings Lynn (Away) The Outer Linnets Match Thread
Stupid question but do we know how seriously KL are taking this fixture? Didn't I see somewhere that they've written this season off completely?
Not that facing weakened opposition would help us any.

I know that correlation doesn't imply causation, but my blood pressure is lower when we're not getting hammered week after week.

Re: National League to carry on.
Fines as a punishment are of course completely absurd. If clubs had any spare cash knocking around they'd maybe be in a position to play. I completely understand the decision of Maidstone's Board and it's clear among their supporters that they'd much rather end up bumped down a couple of divisions t...

Re: National League to carry on.
I know I'm an extreme case because I left the UK over twenty years ago, but not only have I stopped following matches online, this season I don't even know when matches are being played. Quite apart from how wretched the Bees have been this season, I just can't summon up any enthusiasm for what is b...

Re: National League to carry on.
The NLN and NLS votes seem too close to call but it looks like a decent number of clubs are adamant that they have no wish to play another game this season. God alone knows where this would leave the entire NL structure because leagues being played out with a significant number of teams not playing ...

Re: National League to carry on.
Maidstone have voted to abandon the season. Their analysis of the numbers is stark and they know a thing or two about going bust and needing to start again from the bottom.

Re: Macclesfield Town
I agree that the big problem is the utterly haphazard and toothless approach to regulation and enforcement. Were I in a position to influence things, I'd push for something on the lines of the French system but even tougher, starting with severe forensic auditing of club accounts on a six-monthly ba...

Re: New Manager
I've applied but of course having to do everything over Skype from Geneva will make it even more of a challenge. I hope the wifi at the Hive is reliable, particularly on match days. ETA: I've also told TK I can give him 60 minutes on the right side of midfield every other week, as long as my back ho...

Re: Downhill Second Half Returns + Podcast
I listened to the first edition on the motorway between Lausanne and Geneva and it really brought back memories. I had a season ticket between 93 and 98, starting on the East Terrace and then moving to the Main Stand (right above the announcer's hut) and so it really spoke to me.

Re: Ex-Bees (2014 update)
Interesting Maidstone line-up for their first PSF today. I knew they'd been hoovering up former Bees but I didn't expect to see so many on the same teamsheet. Jake Cole, Gavin Hoyte, George Elokobi, Danny Divine, Luke Pennell, Clovis Kamdjo, Sam Corne, Justin Amaluzor, Iffy Allen, Nana Kyei, Jonny E...

I'm quite tempted, but haven't quite got as far as getting my credit card out yet. Might wait for feedback from early adopters.
