Barnet retained list

Post: # 374895Post DSM »

To distract us from yesterday here is what I expect noting where I’d do something different to what I expect DB to do and assuming only Gorman is out of contract and most players from 2022 summer have an option

Keepers

Walker - will be available for sale, expect he’s in contract
Gilmore - keep

RB

RHJ - release great on his day but inconsistent and injury prone
Cropper - keep solid good option

LB

Idris - keep although risk someone will pick him up
Coker - tough but release need someone with more pace

CB

Stevens - release
Collinge - see Idris
Oluwo - keep
Okimo - keep
Wynter - release

Midfield

Pritch - keep
Gorman - I’d keep suspect DB may release
Brunt - keep
Freeman - suspect out of contract and he won’t want to stay
Senior - release
JMD - don’t take option
Granville - release

Forwards

Stead/kabamba - obviously keep

In terms of loans id want Hartigan and GO’D to stay and if we believe we can get him properly fit Thomson would be massive.

I'd let Idris go, cash in, team has played better as a team when he's been injured. Good against the poorer teams, ineffective against better teams, gets little protection from referees.

I'd get rid of Brunt. Fine off the bench when the game becomes stretched but doesn't do enough the rest of the time. He won a 50/50 tackle yesterday; I think that was the first time in his Barnet career.

Brunt is painfully underrated

Always think football is a bizarre industry where as soon as possible we clamour for people to lose their jobs.

It intrigues me that in some instances a promotion can be bad for some players who do a good job in one league and can't cut it in another. A player who gets relegated may be too good for the division below and get a dream move to a bigger club in their division or above if their team goes down of which they may or may not be partly to blame.

But it is what it is.

You think stevens will be DB’s choice or that he has a contract for next season? I’d gamble on finding a new first choice RB rather than keeping RHJ, too inconsistent

Willesden Bee is usually well informed. I suspect his keep RHJ is a consequence of him having a 2 year contract.

Similar to my thoughts but no wing backs lets sign players to play 442!!

How you can even think of this already is beyond me.

I still need time to get over yesterday's debacle!

GK:

Keeley - back to Spurs
Walker — release
Gilmore - keep

CB:

Collinge - keep
Okimo - put out to pasture / turn into coach
Oluwo - keep
Stevens - release
Thompson - attempt to sign permanently
Diarra - release

RB:
Wynter - release
RHJ - release
Cropper - keep but get a better first choice

LB:
Coker - release
Kanu - sell

MID:
Pritchard - keep
Hartigan - attempt to sign permanently
Gorman - keep (surprised people saying release, still a big asset)
Brunt - keep
JMD - don’t take option
Freeman - keep
Senior - release, spoke to Jeff Stelling the other day who sarcastically thanked me for him

ST:
Stead - keep
Kabamba - keep
O’Donkor - try to keep but unlikely we will
Hooper - release

Transfer priorities -
- Goalkeeper
- Quality full backs with pace
- Osborne-type Midfielder

Idris, Danny plus some Ronnie Edward’s + EMC money could lead to a serious budget
