Re: Look at Taunton's fixture list!!
Truro v Taunton played at Bolitho Park Plymouth on 2nd March had an attendance of 196. Not sure they take to inconvenient travelling in numbers either.becbee wrote: ↑12 Mar 2024, 13:08 It was intended to be Taunton but with postponements for both sides they never managed to play there.
Truro to Taunton is a 250 mile / 4 .5 hour round trip. Truro to Gloucester is almost a 400 mile / 7 hour round trip.
And on another thread we are discussing fans who don't want to travel to The Hive on a Tuesday evening!!

You have got to feel for Taunton Town.
Their scheduled home fixture tonight v Maidstone United has fallen foul of the weather and is now to be played at Gloucester City’s ground.

How many do they normally get when played at their own ground?

I was at the home game with Chippenham a couple of weeks back and the attendance was nearly 1700.jerroll wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 21:31been away for most of last 3 seasons then covid before that so difficult to judge!letchbee94 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:24How many do they normally get when played at their own ground?
Re: Look at Taunton's fixture list!!
Doh, i saw talk of the game at Gloucester and thought it was another Truro game there!! good to hear Taunton getting decent crowds when weather allows, wish them luck in staying up. That's a huge drop off but was only at less than 24 hours notice - hope cost to hire ground wasn't too brutal, Under normal circumstances Maidstone would have taken that crowd as their away support but with all the uncertanty hardly surprising they didn't!! At least Taunton only have 7 games left, Trurro still have 8!Norfolkbee wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 21:43I was at the home game with Chippenham a couple of weeks back and the attendance was nearly 1700.jerroll wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 21:31been away for most of last 3 seasons then covid before that so difficult to judge!letchbee94 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:24How many do they normally get when played at their own ground?

Colne FC have ten matches between April 3 and 20. That is brutal.

An interesting read from Colne Board Member / fan.
Re: Look at Taunton's fixture list!!
They have 11 if you include a Lancs Cup semi final next week ( 12 if they win through to the final!).
League matches on 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th, i.e 7 matches in 9 days!!

Re: Look at Taunton's fixture list!!
The various leagues (and the FA) need to have
a long look at the numbers of clubs they have in their divisions.
24 clubs in the NL is too many. Most of the pitches in the NL are ok but postponements have caused problems and resulted in too many fixtures in too short a period of time.
Reading the article on Colne it seems that the North West Counties League increased the numbers of clubs in its top division to 24.
I doubt very much if the standard of pitches/groundsmen is on a par with the NL clubs so to have 24 clubs is a nonsense.
There must be a complete re-think on this as our winters do seem to be getting ever-wetter.
