Gateshead (Hive) This Tyne It's Personal Match Thread
So..... Saturday sees the visit of the Heed to the Hive as Gateshead visit for our latest Bananarama fixture.
The despondency felt at Gateshead's stadium earlier this year is yet to fade and it is to be hoped that we will take some small measure of revenge on Gateshead for denying us a trip to Wembley. To be fair, it was as much about Brennan's misjudgement in resting Kabamba and De Havilland as it was anything which they did as a disjointed bees team fell apart in the first half.
The Heed will be feeling that this is their tyne as they sit in the playoffs with 7 points from their last 5 games. Tipped as many's dark horse for promotion they will be hoping their good early season form will carry them through to the end of the season at the end of the season and that they can cross the finish line at the Athletics stadium in one of the playoff spots. This is a marathon not a sprint and it will be interesting to see how their squad fares when injuries bite. Rob Elliot is following the trend of previous Newcastle players in taking charge at the Heed and he will be hoping he can be the toast of the toon with another promotion.
My fondest memory of Gateshead was when Martin Allen orchestrated a smash and grab with Curtis Weston and Luisma Villa dominant in our victory. Since then both our fortunes have suffered with their forced relegation and our vote averse chairman appointing a woefully inadequate series of managers, but thankfully we are both now in the promotion picture.
After our second half collapse, fans getting thrown out at Chesterfield and some "fan" called Courtney Senior a see you next tuesday, it would be easy to focus on the negatives, but I prefer to focus on our first half performance which showed we can go toe to toe with the best in this league, as long as we take our chances when on top. I would go with an attacking team for this one.

Subs: Coker, Revan, Gorman, Hooper, Armstrong
I am missing this one due to a family commitment. Hoping we can get back to winning ways.

Pretty sure every time we've dropped points this season, we have won the next game. Bouncebackability
Re: Gateshead (Hive) This Tyne It's Personal Match Thread
I know DB said post match Chesterfield that it looks like Kanu has pulled his hamstring, not sure when or if the club do a pre match interview for Gateshead if this will be confirmed, I must say asking the lad to create problems in opponents half and then run back to defend I felt it was when not if Kanu would pick up a injury, shame as he did cause Chesterfield problems as they put two players on him during first half.

For all the Hives faults, lack of staffing, crap location, mediocre extortionate catering, faulty floodlighting, sheer coldness etc etc, won't it be lovely to be at home again.
Feels like we've done far too much travelling in recent weeks.

There should be goals as both sides are high scoring.

Brunt cannot be anonymous again. Needs to step up or get dropped.

Zak Brunt has phenomenal potential. The National League is a really difficult league for a young skilful player to learn his craft. So many teams with strong, ugly gorillas who will not think twice in using “professional” means to stifle talented players (ask Idris!).BeesKnees99 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2023, 14:29 Brunt cannot be anonymous again. We should be patient with Zak and support him as he progresses (which he will).
PS Happy 22nd birthday Zak Brunt.
