I've looked at the planning permission for Lords. What the council did was specify that light from the site must not exceed 20 lux and stipulate that before being used each year they are turned on and tested. So far they have been well below this level. Would be great if a similar approach could be taken.

Noticed someone's had a go at painting the east stand ( pitch side) grey.
Hope it's the first coat !!

I suspect the height of the West Stand is likely to be a bigger issue than the flood lights or turnstiles.

Where's the height measure from? Can we raise the ground level behind and to the sides of it?

Irrespective of what Cllr Shah says, I thought that all others aspects of the building work had been recommended for approval (bar the floodlights where further information required = why the application was refused?).

Guidance on lighting:
http://archive.defra.gov.uk/environment ... isance.pdf

If I've followed it correctly then the interesting bit is that Lighting for sports facilities is exempt if it can show it has used ‘best practicable means’ of minimising public nuisance of artificial light. So if planning was refused on this basis I think the club would have very strong grounds on appeal against the environmental protection advice given.

Well tonights the night when the planning application succeeds or fails. Abacus have added a more detailed plan of lighting levels outside the ground so hopefully that will be enough to persuade those in power that that floodlights are acceptable. The plan shows light at the top of the embankment will be 10 lux.

Cllr Shah now saying that the test of the floodlights on Friday failed guidelines so tonights planning permission is looking very dodgy. :(

I bet it'll be after August 10th. What is it about London Borough authorities !?!

I wonder if this was filibustering by those opposed to the Hive.

It sounds like Harrow Council never assessed whether we needed an environmental impact assessment. Ooops.

Is it safe to assume we can continue to use the stadium the same way we have during pre season until the next planning meeting?

More to the point, if we need to use the lights before a decision is made, can we? When is our first evening game...?
