I am in that shot somewhere as an 18yr old. Always used to stand that end. Tried blowing it up but everyone looks the same with pixellated faces!!
Fantastic photos being loaded, keep it up.

I would have been standing directly opposite you, but I was only 8 then! This game is probably my earliest memory from UH.

My first match was the Herts Charity Cup Final 9th May 1964. My brother took me. Barnet won the Cup playing Bishops Stortford and they were also presented with the Athenian League Trophy after the game....I was a bit of a glory hunter back then!!!

Action from the fourth round of the Amateur Cup against Bishop Auckland on the way to Wembley, taken from the semi-final programme against Wathamstow Avenue held at Highbury. Tony Harding is the first player I really remember from my childhood, always seemed to be able to jump incredibly high and was a fantastic header of the ball.

Oh by the way Jeff Voyce (last player back row left) went to school with my Mum! It seems they went out a few times too!

Reckless. What year was that and.....how old are you?!!!!!!
Yes that would be the team and the trophies by the look of it. Reg Finch was a favourite of mine as well. I remember back then wingers did not help out in defence, Reg would quite often lean on the fence and chat to supporters while he waited for the ball to be hoofed up the wing!!

That is the 1963-64 team - the reason why I know that is that according to my team line ups Roy Drake left at the end of that season and joined Hendon and Don Whyte started virtually every game in 1964-65. Dave Smith also became the reserve keeper the following season when we signed Johnny Barr who was the regular keeper in 1964-65.
I am a youthful 52 fella and unfortunately these guys were really just before my time (My first full season was 1968-69) although I attended a a fair few games from 1965.

Sorry Reckless, I was being a bit naughty with the age thing and Jeff Voyce, but I remember him as being a really hard full back with a vicious left foot. I remember a game at Romford in the early days of the Southern league when it looked like a goalless draw was on the cards and from nothing just inside the Romford half he let fly with a rocket which just flew into the top corner. I also remember Dennis Roach started 63/64 and living in Borehamwood I would often stroll around Ciro carpets in Leeming Road which he owned on the off chance of getting an autograph!

At the same time that the new main stand was being built the north terrace was having a makeover.

Wow. Amazing stuff Derek and all - thanks for sharing these pictures.

In the North Terrace picture above, in the background there is the old hut to the left of the East Terrace roof. In my memory it was used as a Police HQ, a waste paper collection hut and a creche.

Anyone know what it was originally built for?!
