Gateshead (Howay) The TK's Light Buib Moment Match Thread
So...... Saturday sees the bees once again in taking in northern skies as we take on Gateshead FC in the Bananarama League.
Gateshead have had a rotten few games and are feeling the loss of key players with three defeats on the spin seeing them tumble out of the playoffs. They will be keen to get back to winning ways against a vulnerable looking Barnet side. Gateshead was the home of Joseph Swann who together with Thomas Edison invented the light bulb and they will be hoping for an element of good fortune to get their home fans buzzing with their playoff hopes looking dimmer. Switching to Barnet we just need our chairman to have a lightbuib moment and support Deano in the transfer market.
After we had the better of the game at Oldham but still came up short due to kamikaze defending and poor finishing, the usual moaners were all over it saying we need a Plan B. Plan A has so far got us to third in the league but what we actually need is players who can finish chances and who understand that defending requires composure.
When we were in a Covid season under Saint Currie, the patron saint of tanning booths, TK invested in our much needed striker McCallum and we need him to scrape the moth dust out of his wallet, not just in preparation for receiving the leprechaun money for Ronnie Edwards, but also to replace Danny Collinge whose absence could derail our promotion push.
Stevens is not fit, is technically limited and despite generally looking solid has now committed two howlers in games which have cost us so he can't be relied on. Okimo has finally lost his picture of Dorian Gray and is showing his age and Oluwu looks like Shaun Batt in front of goal when he hasn't got good players around him. Deano seems unwilling to play Cropper at CB so right centre back is a priority. We also need to look at a midfielder who will get close to Kabamba and offer him some of the support he needs. Gorman being out has forced us to play some of our creative players deep so either a DM cover or a more competent or fit attacking option than Stead or Hooper feels needed.
Looking at Team news and I am boring myself with this but if you only have two good centre halves then surely it is better to play with a back 4? If Deano does not feel like going for Saint Currie's preferred formation then this team also works in his PIN 3-6-1 formation or even, shockingly, as a 4-4-2 This is the team I would go with:-
-----------------------------------POTM-------------------------------
--------Cropper----------Oluwu---------Potter----------Coker----
-----------------------Pritchard-----Hartigan------------------------
------Hall-Johnson-----------Maguire-Drew------------Kanu-------
--------------------------------Kabamba-------------------------------
Subs: Okimo, Armstrong, Stead, Brunt, Senior
I am missing this one but wish all the best to the bees making a long trip up to Byker Grove territory. Hope your trip is purely belter and you bring the three points Hive.

I think we need a back 3 of Oluwo,Okimo & Potter in that order with Coker & Cropper as Wing Backs.I would drop Hall-Johnson to the bench for this one.
I love Luisma & really miss his skils!

Lets hope so!

How do supporters see us setting up today with the changes Dean has made
Re: Gateshead (Howay) The TK's Light Buib Moment Match Thread
DB probably won't change anything about the way we play. Very predictable.
