FA CUP
Re: FA CUP
Could have been an awful lot worse. We all want a good Prem team away but would have made the Newport tie even tougher and been so disappointing if we lost. Got a feeling Eastleigh will beat Reading but either way it's winnable and better than an uninspiring away tie. Hadn't realised Reading are second bottom in league one and in financial trouble. They will be disappointed by the draw, though looking at their team today perhaps they don't care.
Re: FA CUP
Oh FFS.
My first two 3rd round games as a Barnet fan was Charlton (riding high in the equivalent of the Championship, and local) then Chelsea.
Just feels that we've done well in getting to R3 & R4 since, but we've never drawn a top level team since Chelsea have we?
Colchester, Plymouth, Bristol Rovers, Swindon, Sheffield Utd (Championship), Brentford (Championship), now (possibly) Reading or Eastleigh.
Any I missed?
Yet every year Arsenal draw Liverpool draw Man Utd or similar. Just feels constantly crap draw after crap draw.

Re: FA CUP
Eastleigh playing much better than Reading and are one up - McCallum, of course. I'd rather play Reading.

Multiple Reading fans on Twitter said it’s a strong team

Re: FA CUP
McCallum 2 Reading 1.
So in the draw rehearsal they drew Man Utd. In the real draw they get us or Newport.

Re: FA CUP
I prophesied Eastleigh away for Round 2. Call it destiny.
If McCallum was playing for us this season I'm convinced he would already be on 20+ league goals with the number of chances we create

Re: FA CUP
Uninspiring.
Need to beat Newport first though.

Re: FA CUP
I see this as good draw, now we know we face Ezstleigh if of course we can get past Newport which won't be easy, but apart from Mcallum who is on fire of late (as I posted about 10 days ago)
I would fancy us to up our game knowing fourth round is possible. So would have better chance of drawing money spinning draw, plus the money for reaching the 4th round, of course there are a lot of But's and If's.
Re: FA CUP
The chances of drawing one of the big prem teams is so small, and yet the 3rd round is always billed as the promised land for lower league teams.
Should we beat Newport, the home tie should be viewed as a good opportunity to make progress to R4. Whether it's Eastleigh or Reading, both sides will pose a challenge. But they will see it exactly the same as we do.
I've always had the opinion that we get crap draws, but now I'm just trying to embrace the outcome. We get who we get. Just play the game and give it our best shot.
Still think we could be in with a shout of being on TV for the replay, as we are at home.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Re: FA CUP
A chance now to go really deep in the FA Cup and attract real national media attention.
2nd round replay - Newport (home) - realistically we could be on ITV4 as there are no other non-league sides at home yet (praying that Ramsgate don't hold AFC Wimbledon to a draw at Plough Lane tomorrow night).
3rd round - Eastleigh (home) - what I like about this round is that every tie is the same as all the others in importance despite the BBC building up Arsenal reserves v Liverpool reserves (yawn) as an El Clasico or Sunderland v Newcastle and Alan Shearer wetting his pants. No replays now so no visit to Hampshire in the middle of January.
4th round - we are finally due a biggie. Tottenham away is my prediction. Or a winnable tie against crap League One (Shrewsbury) at the Hive to make the last 16 for the very first time.
Exciting possibilities.

There should be a second televised replay on BBC Two so I think it's looking very likelyPsycho wrote:2nd round replay - Newport (home) - realistically we could be on ITV4 as there are no other non-league sides at home yet (praying that Ramsgate don't hold AFC Wimbledon to a draw at Plough Lane tomorrow night).
