Both a minor reprieve and a major frustration

Still comfortable gap between us and 4th place.

Looking very out of ideas and uninspired though.

As Fairclough once said, need to bring the enjoyment back to playing football as there doesn't seem to be any at the moment.

Wouldn’t quite go that far, we hadn’t won a game of football for about 15 months when he said that

Take your point though

Worst performance in ages. Nothing good to say about it. Too many key players - Brunt, Kanu, Pritchard, Kabamba - not contributing enough at the moment and still getting picked week after week. Time for Brennan to show that you get into this team on form, not reputation.

If you've conceded more goals than rock-bottom Kidderminster, it puts so much pressure on the midfielders and strikers match after match.

Wednesday is a huge game against Oldham now. Hardly at crisis point but another slip-up would be worrying.

Well that was depressing. Well and truly schooled today by a classy, well-drilled outfit who doubtless will be challenging for 2nd or 3rd come April. I left at 80 minutes such was the inevitability of our defeat.

The major concern now is that teams have us sussed. But for a short spell after their first goal, we did absolutely nothing. Not every team we play will be as good as Gateshead but we’re so easy to stifle now.

Think the squad and tactics need a bit of a refresh, starting with dropping the increasingly frustrating Zak Brunt.

Kanu and Pritchard did all the running... how Brunt is starting over Gorman is beyond me. Looks lost and not getting into games - he was blaming other players. Brunt should have been off at half time too

If that match had been played last Tuesday we could have blamed it on a reaction from Chesterfield. But a week later?
Our players looked like they didn't know their teammates. It was awful. Just as last Saturday, the away team had all the luck going against them first half, so it was again today. Difference being that last week the home team did something about it at half time. We did nothing.

Our defending was awful for both their goals . Even then, 0-2 down, apart from a brief spell, there was next to no urgency about us.

The referee wasn't the reason why we lost but he was dreadful. Penalised minor issues yet when their player did the potential leg breaker on Brunt he did nothing. Also ignored their 2 players shirt pull in the area on Kabamba. And how was there just 3 seconds of first half injury time when they'd been time wasting so blatantly?

Really disappointing. DB needs to look at his squad and for Wednesday pick the eleven who can get us a result .

Agree with virtually every post, but what really concerns me is not loosing last week or even today, it's the fact it was on the cards, because of how we have been playing, how our complete starting midfield ( Pritchard, Hartigan and Brunt ) has been playing in the last few weeks, no urgency, Chesterfield and Gateshead today play quick football, direct, were with us it's to many side, back or 2-3 yard passes, like others not sure why Dean even watching what's in front of him seems to refuse to change this midfield, can possibly except Hartigan but on form not sure how or why Pritchard and Brunt keep getting selected. At the moment we have earned the gap between us and fourth, but many more performances like of late and this will soon be gone.

Nobody has played well in that half, but Brunt once again anonymous and ineffectual, as he has been for several weeks now.

No doubting his talent, but something’s not working
The quality of ball that he’s received today has been absolutely woeful. He has been ineffectual so far today but what is he supposed to do with what he’s received so far?
He nevers goes to get the ball in the way Kanu, Gorman and Pritchard do. If you'revnot getting the service, go and find the ball

Post match Interview now up: https://youtu.be/CCNFM9VKe9U?si=TAnYwHriIPiI7IOT

Hate to say it, but if anyone's confidence seems down at the moment, it's Deano's. Hope he's got good people around him to pick him up too.

Well I’ve found my positive - 20 scouts at the game! None will suggesting to make an offer for any of our players!

It is time for Brunt & Pritchard to be dropped I’m afraid - Gorman deserves a run. Kanu looked clueless too & I actually think he’s better at wingback with a fairly strict role.

Coker shocking too.

Agree, second time in a row he’s looked completely humbled

Maybe this team needs one year more to mature to be ready for promotion. I can see Southend going up with Chesterfield.

Was Kanu wearing check pieces today lost count of the amount of times players made runs for him and he kept hold of the ball. Also why on earth was their goalkeeper time wasting he was doing us a favour. Would bite the arm off that offered us 4 points from next week’s fixtures.
