So I hope it doesn't come to this as I would never want to see a team fold in this way. Has anyone thought about what would happen if this is the case though?

Would the National League have 3 teams promoted to make up the number for next season and bring it back to 92 teams?

No, lg2 would only relegate 1.

Therefore, non-league would just re-shuffle accordingly. Only 3 would actually go down from our league, and then the regional leagues below us have so much chopping and changing every year at the AGM that no-one would notice. The spreadsheet will be a picture of colour. Hope it doesn't come to that, but it doesn't look good for Bury and it's fans.

Wondering if the Salford project has had an adverse impact on Bury, or if this is a complete coincidence...e.g. attendance, supporters buying merchandise etc.

Especially given fact promotion to League 1 was achieved, or was this down to spending money didn't have?

Not anything to do with Salford, only FCUM have really felt the impact of that. The situation is detailed here:

Gary and Phil Neville's mum is the Company Secretary and MD of Bury and one of the stands are named after their Dad. So perhaps they might have thought about putting some money into the Shakers if they hadn't got involved with Salford ?

Didnt Bury vote to expel us from Division 2 in 1992?

The year was 1993! I'm not sure which way they voted, or if there was an official tally of which club voted which way. The reports at the time pointed to Halifax and Walsall (who both stood to go up a league if we were kicked out) as the ringleaders, and mentioned Forest as voting against us too.

But given it was 26 years ago, I think it'd be a bit out of order to wish them going bust even if "they" (chairman at the time has nothing to do with fanstoday) voted to kick us out. Two wrongs don't make right here. What the Wolves chairman said at the time is also true for Bury today:

"The feeling was that they have a very committed set of supporters and that they were being punished for the misdemeanours of someone else".

Bury have been officially expelled from the EFL. Very sad news indeed.

So do they now officially no longer exist? Just a name on a wikipedia page.

A sad day for Bury fans. They will of course come back in time, but this is a harsh reminder of the failures in the football system of today.
Far to much money going into of the game at premiership level and not a lot coming down the league's. Although club owners need to be sensible with their spending to make sure their stewardship are of sound financial footings. Unfortunately I can see a few more going the same way this year.

Gigg lane always welcoming in my experience.Perhaps bringing a perspective to the constant whinging on a fixture change. And maybe time in the national league from 2020 beneficial Image
