Alex, what a coincidence eh! what are the chances that a ticket tout with the same name as our former Chairman being arrested! Luckily we all know that our Stan was as honest as the day is long and would have never dreamed of being involved in anything as immoral as ticket touting!

Born 1936, aged 25. I'm going to make you do the rest of the work because that's just the kind of person I am, although I imagine that would have been a good year to be touting down Totteham High Road.

Curiosity got the better of me so a few minutes hunting around reveals that this was 1962 and the score was 4-4 in front of 61,749. Scorers were Cliff Jones (2), Dave Mackay & John White and David Court (2), Johnny Macleod & Geoff Strong.

£2 would hardly of mattered to Stanley I would wager as a fine as the average working weekly wage was about 12 to 15 quid. OB1 would know.

Seeing that he was accused of obstruction outside the ground, was he already big fat Stan?

Back in the 1960s, I was a pupil at Tottenham Grammar School and me and my mates used to spend our lunch breaks collecting autographs outside White Hart Lane. Entrepreneurs, like Fat Stan and Johnny "The Stick" Goldstein were well in with the players with little deals going on to secure tickets for big matches. You have to remember players then weren't on the obscene money they earn today.
Incidentally, Stan's office was in a residential block of flats near King's Cross station. Camden Council was always trying to evict him so that the premises could be used for housing. However, Stan and his lawyers managed to prove "established use" and he remained there.

I was still at school in 1962, but I think I was earning £1 a week doing my paper round. Selling programmes at Underhill brought in 2s 6d per match.

This can’t be the same man who had trouble totalling up the correct match day attendance surely?

It was the same man who turned up on the doorstep of a player whose mum had just died with an envelope full of cash to pay for the funeral.
