Dorchester (THL) The 5 Star Match Thread

Post: # 265603Post Bee_Forever »

So.... Saturday sees Barnet's conquering cup heroes return to FA Trophy action against Dorchester Town.

After Currie's champions belied their league position to overcome and blunt the blades, playing in the FA Trophy is something of a change of pace.

One of the sites of the Bloody Assizes Dorchester is now a picturesque town and like bath would have been a good away trip (but not midweek!). In terms of how we approach this game this is hard to judge.

Given we are going to hit a fixture pileup at some point I think some rotation would be wise so:-

--------------------------Matrevics-------------------------

--Alexander---Sweeney--Reynolds--Tutonda--

---------------Robson--fonguck--adams--------------

--walker----------------barham--------------akinola---

Subs:- Cousins, Johnson, J. Taylor, Coulthirst, mason-clarke

I am doing this one looking forward to hopefully a further cup progression.

With regards to our players on the fringe (welcome to be Jerrolled):

- Jack Barham & Dave Tarpey are both back and were not cuptied, and afaik fit again.
- Dan Sparkes has mentioned being injured on twitter, but I just assumed it was to cover the disappointment of being dropped recently.
- Shomuton is back from Wealdstone, but I think cup tied.
- You missed out Bettemer?
- Assume Vilhete & Santos still injured.
- Assume Jules not signed?

Boucard. Kyei.

Knew I forgot a couple in our hopelessly bloated squad.

On one hand I want a completely changed XI as we have the bloody fringe players, and need to see who is good enough.

On the other hand, I'm desperate for us to do well in this competition, and we really don't need a replay, so i'd like to see a full tesm squad, perhaps with Jack Taylor, Shaq and Elito rested.

I would pick Harrison but remind him that the two long things hanging down from his bottom are called LEGS. If you move these things called legs with just a little bit more momentum your body can get from A to B a little bit quicker.
Byron, give it a go. It's really not that difficult when you try it.

Payne and Kyei are back from loan, but the former is injured.

Mars is also back from loan but very unlikely to feature.

I'd love us to really take this one seriously. This is a realistic route to Wembley after all.
Maybe rotate a couple of players, but don't disrupt the rhythm of a side which is starting to gel under DC.
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Bettamer deserves his chance over Harrison.

Shomotun & payne are both cuptied - Kyei didn't play for Concord in the game against them!

Between this and the Middlesex cup game anyone who’s fit enough will get a chance to show what there worth

Logic says that we should keep up the momentum from Sheffield Utd. Play our strongest team, subject only to resting anybody who has an injury / niggle. The other players can play in the Middx Senior Cup match.
And yes, Bettamer deserves his chance over Harrison. Give Harrison 90 minutes in the M.S.C. match.

Worst possible scenario from a team selection basis would be a draw and a replay against Dorchester. The MSC game would then be postponed.

100% agreed.

Win it on the day, move on.

Momentum is everything and a win will only add to it.
We can't risk a draw and I REALLY want to see us in the final.

With regards to Dave Tarpy - have a read of this:
https://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk ... n-end.html
In truth the month or so he spent back at York Road was slightly underwhelming, with the player unable to add to his 98 goals in black and white, and spending more time on the treatment table after suffering a knee injury in the 1-1 draw against Ebbsfleet United.
Doesn't look good for him. I wonder if we will be saying goodbye to him in the near future. So sad if we do, I just wish he had had a good run and could have realised his potential as a league player when he joined us.

He looked OK when he did play although still didn't appear to be fully fit. The problem was the lack of quality around him as well as the fact that a fairly similar player (Josh Kelly) was fit and so would start ahead of him.
