Round 4: Who do you want and who will we get?
Re: Round 4: Who do you want and who will we get?
The chances of us drawing a top side are now much better compared to round 3. Surely our time has come for that dream cup tie. Would love one of those premier league big boys at home. Guaranteed TV appearance. Full house at the Hive and more amazing memories.
If it is to be away, at least a game in London like QPR or Palace.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Any big club away. Or Spurs.
We'll get Newport though. Probably get Accy in round 5, then a big draw in round 6 when I'm on holiday.

I really need this game to be Friday or Saturday. I head to Barcelona for work on the Sunday morning.

Re: Round 4: Who do you want and who will we get?
I should probably just get on with some work but I have done a complete list of my order of preference based on following factors
Glamour of the tie (Slightly intangible),
Likely pay day for the club,
Likelihood of beating them (hence Newport surprisingly high up),
Ease of getting to,
Whether it would make just a nice day out,
Whether we’ve ever played them before,
Whether I’ve been to the ground or not.
Gloating factor with family and friends
Arsenal
Liverpool
Spurs
Manchester United
Chelsea
Manchester City
Newcastle
West Ham
Everton
Watford
Southampton
Palace
Brighton
Sheffield Wednesday
West Brom
Wolves
Newport
Oldham
Middlesborough
Stoke
Burnley
Derby
Bristol City
Milwall
Swansea
Brentford
Blackburn
Bolton
Portsmouth
Wimbledon
Shrewsbury
Luton
Gillingham
Doncaster
Accrington

Re: Round 4: Who do you want and who will we get?
So all I hear is people wanting to go to grounds like Oldham or whatever as we've a chance of reaching round 5, or experience a new ground.
Sod that, we'll be 2nd favourite no matter who we draw, home OR away. And in the next round teams won't make 10 changes, not even Man City (see the team they put out).
So, let's have one of two things.
1) A London premier league team away , ideally a north London team for a great day out and amazing atmosphere and a brilliant payday, and then we can get on with winning the FA Trophy and challenging for the play offs.
or
2) A top team at The Hive so we can finally have that game (probably played under floodlights) that we want at The Hive - a sell out. I'm thinking Liverpool, Newcastle, Man City/UTD.

Re: Round 4: Who do you want and who will we get?
I’d more or less go with your list although I wouldn’t put Newport up so high (unless this is due to the winnability of the tie) and I’d put Derby a lot higher than Middlesbrough. Your bottom picks are pretty spot-on!Edd1 wrote:I should probably just get on with some work but I have done a complete list of my order of preference based on following factors

Edit: Just saw your reason for Newport’s placing. I still wouldn’t fancy standing out in the open though!

Fingers crossed for a biggie, but worryingly there are still a lot of lower EFL teams in the draw. We've had disappointments in the past when we've got ourselves into this promising position.

Gotta hope that it will be 3rd time lucky for us!Norfolkbee wrote:Fingers crossed for a biggie, but worryingly there are still a lot of lower EFL teams in the draw. We've had disappointments in the past when we've got ourselves into this promising position.

This has Luton away written all over it...
