I thought Casabella was a decent player but he was too injury-prone.
Kenny Gillet was a pretty good signing from abroad for us as well.

I thought so too but a couple of the players told me that he was getting rings run around him in training and was generally awful.

Mr Smart, can't disagree with your response, but I was really just pointing out that going abroad for players isn't necessarily any more of a magic formula than bringing in players already here. In theory (I emphasise in theory) players who have experience playing for an English or British team should adapt to a new club fairly quickly as they will play a similar brand of football in most cases. A player from a European team will normally be used to a slower pace of football with a higher skill content and more tactical approach. Some players from Europe can adapt well, some can't. Equally some UK based players who should have no problems turn out to be duds. You pay your money and take you're choice.

I take it this was post-injury, after which he barely played?

Pre-injury he was getting better and better over his first few games.

Ran Kadoch is the best example of why we should never sign foreign players.
Or that New Zealander who joined us to get fit for the World Cup then never played. Or did he manage a sub appearance?

I think Chris Jamrs came on as a sub once.

Twice, at home to Chesterfield and away at Grimsby when a certain Mauro Vilhete also appeared as a sub.

I think it was after his injury when he'd not been in the team for a while. I was curious as to why he wasn't playing and they said because he was the weakest player in the group.

Those players' opinions of Casabella seem pretty harsh. If he was that bad in training why would he be selected to play? Our record that season with him in the team was far better than when he didn't play.

Presumably he only started to look poor after his injury.
