Barnet Ladies Reach League Cup Semi Final

Post: # 281Post ShankBee »

Very well done. Taken from the dark side;

Bees to face Portsmouth in the League Cup Semi-Final

Barnet FC Ladies have been drawn at home to Southern Division side Portsmouth in the Semi-Final of the FA Women's Premier League Cup. The tie will be played at Hanwell Town FC on Sunday 13 February 2011 (kick-off 2.00pm).
It is the second season in succession that the Bees have played in the semi-final of a national cup competition, having reached the last four of last season's FA Women's Cup. It is the club's best run in the FA Women's Premier League Cup since joining forces with Barnet FC in 1998. However, they did win the competition in 1996 under the name of Wembley Ladies FC beating Doncaster Belles in the final, which ironically was played at Underhill.
Portsmouth will be the sixth Southern Division side that National Division Barnet have played in this season's competition. In the group stages The Bees progressed with a 100% record with wins against Colchester United (4-0), West Ham United (1-0) and Queens Park Rangers (4-0). In the knockout stages Barnet have defeated Brighton and Hove Albion (3-2) and Cardiff City (5-0), in the Quarter Final.
Barnet's semi-final opponents Portsmouth pulled off a significant giant-killing feat in their Quarter-Final when they defeated National Division leaders Sunderland 2-1, after extra time, at their Moneyfields FC home today.
Barnet FC Ladies also learnt today that their opponents in the Third Round of the FA Women's Cup will be Midlands Combination club Loughborough Students. This tie will be played at Loughborough University on Sunday 6 February 2011.
