Cheltenham Gold Cup & Grand National
For anyone interested in the gee-gee's, the Cheltenham Festival is on again this week, with the Gold Cup on Friday. Dukey's top tip for you, Midnight Chase, currently around 14/1, this 9-y-o is unbeaten in his last four starts at Cheltenham, so is a course specialist and old boys like Denman, Kauto Star and Imperial Commander will all run out of steam running up that hill this year.

Disclaimer - if you bet on him and he loses, tough luck!!

When you're arguing with an idiot, make sure the other person isn't doing the same.
Re: Cheltenham Gold Cup
My top Cheltenham tip is - pretty obviously - Big Buck's, going for a hat-trick in the World Hurdle.

Tenner e/w at 14/1 placed on Midnight Chase for the GC on Friday - got to be in with a squeak ahead of all those old donkeys. The last time an 11-y-o won was when Arkle was a lad in 1962, so don't waste your money on Denman or Kauto Star this year!
And you wont be winning big bucks on Big Bucks, current odds - Evens!

Yesterday:
The lesson I've learned is not to back the horses my boss owns. Apart from those three, I've had 2 wins and 5 seconds, and would be much happier if I backed EW.. which I don't.

Nice quip heard on Radio 5 Live this morning:
The Ryanair Chase is being run in Gloucester instead of Cheltenham, because it's cheaper ...

@ GD: I hope you've had an each-way bet on your relative Oscar Delta in the Christie's Foxhunter Chase: just came in third at 25/1.
P.S. What a brilliant performance by old Denman, finishing in the first two of the Gold Cup for the fourth year running. Very impressive first lap by Midnight Chase!
Oh, and of course Big Buck's did win yet again.

Re: Cheltenham Gold Cup
My prediction that the old boys Denman and Kauto Star would run out of steam going up that hill was spot on, it was just a shame it was another horse and not mine that came whizzing past them on the run in.
I'm really pleased with Midnight Chase's fifth place. He justified the betting frenzy on him as I took odds of 14/1 on Wednesday and his s/p was 9/1. Next year will be his year.

Golf Delta - You were really pleased with the horse you fancied and backed came 5th?
Did you find a bookies that paid e/w first five for the Gold Cup then!?

Sadly not but it bodes well for the future for him. To repay my debt, I did manage to win £98 on the lottery this week though!

Re: Cheltenham Gold Cup
Bookies currently reckon that Barnet (1/10) are a hundred times more likely than Burton (10/1) to be relegated ...

That feels about right to me.
