Yet another postponement
Yet another postponement
Sutton away on Saturday 6th Feb is now postponed due to Sutton being involved in the FA Trophy that day. This is just getting ridiculous.

Looks like season over anyway.

Beyond belief.
Surely it's far enough off to get another game sorted.

Re: Yet another postponement
When saw this I thought it was the Altrincham game this Saturday, to be fair the Sutton game is due to Sutton progressing in the Trophy so bit ott to say it is ridiculous, though yes it is annoying the lack of games we have had lately but it not as if this 1 is due to bad weather or Covid.becbee wrote:Sutton away on Saturday 6th Feb is now postponed due to Sutton being involved in the FA Trophy that day. Re: Yet another postponement
Rather than the season being cancelled, or defaulting to points per game (too few games played surely), I wonder if it would be more reasonable and most fair this time around to complete the season whenever it is possible to do so.
That would have been my preference last season, though clearly impractical and unrealistic in what were impossible to anticipate circumstances. However this time around everyone knew that we could find ourselves in this situation.

Re: Yet another postponement
Borrowing money is relatively cheap these days so NL clubs should not reject the idea too quickly. However, I suspect many small and/or struggling teams, like us, would prefer to void the whole season.
Re: Yet another postponement
With the curtailment of all League’s below NLN & NLS, how can a normal promotion
and relegation process take place in the non league pyramid.

Re: Yet another postponement
I don't think they will stop our league because of the tv contract with BT.
Re: Yet another postponement
The first bailout did seem to be too good to be true...
I wonder if the uncertainty will put a stop to our recent signing spree.

Re: Yet another postponement
I can't find the current rate but according to an article dated October 2019 in Hartlepool Mail, the payment received for televised matches was £6,000 to the home team, £2,000 to the away team. That sort of money perhaps 3-4 times a season isn't remotely enough to finance clubs.edgeog wrote:I don't think they will stop our league because of the tv contract with BT.
Re: Yet another postponement
Goes to show we were half right to cut our cloth, these clubs just spending money like usual in the hope they were going to be given free money is quite frankly criminal.
Why are they prioritising the FA Trophy over the league this season? Just can it for the year!
Why can't we bring a game later on in the season forward to that date?

FA rules state FA competitions take priority over league matches - feel free to contact them and arrange a EGM!Beesting wrote:Goes to show we were half right to cut our cloth, these clubs just spending money like usual in the hope they were going to be given free money is quite frankly criminal.

Interview with one of the directors of NLN Southport. It's 20 minutes long so drags on a bit but I found it interesting and that he makes some interesting and valid points. Also, if his feelings are typical of other clubs then it does make you wonder whether NLN /S, maybe even NL, will continue?

Kings Lynn's win this evening now puts us 8 points from safety (9 in reality when you consider goal difference).
