FA CUP 2020/21
Re: FA CUP 2020/21
We are ball number 11.
Draw takes place around 7.10pm tomorrow with Danny Cowley picking out the balls.
I would be happy with an easy home draw, I'm not bothered if it's not one of the TV games.
So Havant & Waterlooville at home please Mr Cowley.

Should not really underestimate any of these teams but would be nice to get 1 of Chorley or Canvey island.

Not many attractive options available....have to hope for low ranked at home for the potential cash.

Yep agree with most of the stuff said on here
Crap team at home for the win and prize money
Min final score coverage for some extra cash
3rd round away somewhere up north to a big team so we don't all have to endure the pain of not being able to go to a huge Tie whilst still getting TV money
I suppose due to the lack of fans we realistically want to go as far as we can in the cup assuming that it doesn't derail any chance of the playoffs we may have

Re: FA CUP 2020/21
I always feel that in rounds 1 and 2, we are in a strange situation because there a no glamour ties. The best we can do is scrape the barrel by hoping for a Sunderland, Bolton or Portsmouth. Yet for clubs below us in the pyramid, taking on a L1 or L2 "giant" is a big occasion that doesn't come along very often.
For the likes of Chorley visiting Wigan, or Marine going to Colchester, that's the equivalent of our big day out at Sheffield. Although we've beaten Burton today and it will be reported as an upset, we've played them in the FL relatively recently. Same applies to other recent ties against Fleetwood, Stockport, Newport. With respect, those games are not going to set the pulses racing.
What we really want is to reach round 3. But in order to do that we have to win 3 ties. That's two down, one to go... and even then you have to hope the draw is kind and you get the glamour tie we all want. The chances of pulling it are still slim.
That said, I'm delighted with what we've achieved today. The financial reward for winning two rounds is a godsend in the current climate, and the bond between our new look squad will only have been strengthened.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Yes, even Blackpool and Brentford didn't feel that big having played them fairly regularly when they were struggling Division 3 sides.
Easy route to the third round would be good.

Re: FA CUP 2020/21
Out of the Football League sides we’ve never played who entered the cup at the 1st round stage, only Oldham Athletic and Tranmere Rovers are still in; the bigger sides (Sunderland, Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town) are all out. Hopefully we’ll draw Canvey Island at home!
Re: FA CUP 2020/21
There's a parallel already with our great run of 2 years ago. We've knocked a L1 team out in round one. Looking at the list of ball numbers, i really don't know what would be considered a good draw. Is home advantage a good thing right now?
I guess if anything, at least the players are familiar with their surroundings on and off the pitch.

A final chance to get one over Dean Lewington, such a dislikable player.
This must be a contender to be one of the prime TV matches on BT Sport or the BBC.

Re: FA CUP 2020/21
They've only got three points more than Burton and you never know we might get to play them with 11 players for 90 minutes.
Tough, but not unwinnable.
