The Martin Allen interview
Re: The Martin Allen interview
Great listen, just finished. Many thanks for making it.
I had to download it and listened/watched it whilst working. Fantastic anecdotes and bought back many memories. My son's were only babies during the 2014/15 season and I don't think I was able to get to many, if any, matches during the season, so to hear the stories etc. was great.
My eldest son has just finished watching the Gateshead game, that someone kindly uploaded to YouTube, yesterday and loved it!
Two things I took from Martin's chat.
1. We supporters will be with the club through thick and thin because we love it. You have to appreciate that it is a job for the managers, it is great if they have an affiliation with the club, and they don't come here to make a "hash" of it. There will be ones we cannot stand but, especially with Social Media, we should remember to be respectful to them. They are someones, father, son, husband, brother, etc. and it is never nice for them when they see some of the "stuff" posted on Social media.
2. Darren was taking us somewhere where we all want to be. Most kept the faith and it was starting to be rewarded. Hopefully, when things go back to "normal" the journey won't have been delayed by too much. Darren was patient to get his No. 9, whilst many were despairing, and he got him and what a difference he has made. We need to be patient with Darren and back him wholeheartedly. I think he has all the attributes to be a GREAT manager, hopefully it will be with Barnet.
Let's keep the faith and, as Martin said, get behind Darren, the Chairman and the team and get the Hive rocking when football returns.
Once again, thanks for the taking the time to arrange and record it.
Keep safe everyone.
BTW, I can't find the links to your chats with Darren and Ben, could you post them?
Looking forward to what is coming next and keep up the excellent work.

Being told you look like Gash... That made me laugh like a school boy!
Him asking you why you were smiling... Coz I've seen my daughter!
I was scared just watching it!
You need to do more of these

Really glad you enjoyed it, will keep everyone updated if any more are forthcoming. Good points to take from it, some great stories and seemingly a great time for those who've watched it.CambsBee wrote:Great listen, just finished. Many thanks for making it.

Re: The Martin Allen interview
I was surprised when MA said he had recently been doing referees assessments. I always thought it was ex-referees who did the assessments.

I know at the top level they do ask a lot of former players to undertake the assessments.hoppy wrote:I was surprised when MA said he had recently been doing referees assessments. I always thought it was ex-referees who did the assessments.
