Currie to Wycombe

Postby jlay72 » 05 May 2019, 17:58

Just saw a couple of tweets about DC and the coaching staff at Wycombe yesterday. Apparently Ainsworth might be leaving and DC was quoted that he might be going there?

Hope it’s not the case....

May well be rubbish but it is a recent tweet.

The tweet suggests that Darren was attending the Wycombe vs Fleetwood game on Saturday, which was 4th.
More likely he was scouting a potential recruit?
The comment he made sounds more tongue in cheek than serious.
If my theory is correct, this begs the question, which player was he watching?
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Currie played for Wycombe and knows Ainsworth well. Barnet's season was over and no match to play.
Very common for ex-players to attend former clubs.

Currie deserves some time off. We have a solid platform to build on for next season, and only a couple of signings away from a playoff challenge.

Pretty certain I saw Tarpey at the Woking v Wealdstone game. Assume he'll be signing for Woking....

Can we expect to have Martin Allen back if Currie goes to Wycombe?

If this is to happen then it needs to be sorted ASAP and then we can bring a new manager in ASAP.

If it is all just rumours then lets hope we hear some news from the club and Darren soon regarding what other players are going and staying.

If Allen came back for the 105th time I trust that the club will have his successor on speed dial when he leaves for more money half way through the season having lumbered us with a hand full of duff new signings!

Maybe that's why he was at the Wycombe game - arranging pre season!

Why would Gareth Ainsworth be leaving Wycombe? He's the second longest serving manager in the Prem / EFL.
Why would Wycombe want a barely tested non league manager just because he once played for them?
I've seen various football people at football grounds over the years, the vast majority of whom haven't then become manager there.
Clearly early close season, no news so let's start a rumour.

And yes, we now have a PSF v Wycombe. And Peterborough.

1 Wycombe have no money and he might want to move on somewhere with a bigger budget
2 Wycombe have no money so would probably be inclined to go for an unproven manager from non-league rather than a more expensive option! however I agree with the latter part of your post!

Someone higher up the food chain might want him. Happens to every club, apart from perhaps three or four on the planet! Indeed, I think the muted chatter about Currie to Wycombe was predicated on Ainsworth getting the QPR job, which has gone to someone else now anyway.
