Re: Average Attendances
They play in Bromley, Havant and Eastleigh?
Re: Average Attendances
All three are also playing at the highest level they have ever played at (and are relatively recently promoted to this level)
We on the other hand are a couple of levels below our peak and recently relegated. Add in some pretty dire football at the start of the season.....
The truth is there are many contributory factors to our attendance woes. The fact that we are a few miles from our traditional home is clearly one of them. There are clearly some former regulars who don't come or come less often because of the location of The Hive, but I doubt that this group is much more than 50-100 people. I would imagine entertainment level of football, matchday pricing, the availability of other sporting entertainment and unfulfilled promises of a promotion challenge all have an equally important impact.
Indeed, since attendances have dropped on the last couple of seasons, one could hardly say the location of the hive was the main factor.

Re: Average Attendances
Nah, we never got a seasonal average attendance as high as that during the early Alliance Premier League years (1979-1986).BEEGONE wrote:The latest list is out, not good reading...

Still worrying though even if the Orient match will bring the average up.

Re: Average Attendances
There were some quite barren years in the early and mid 80s for sure. I remember standing on the terraces and looking around at the sparsely populated ground pretty much every week.
Almost literally one man and his dog.
I think 800 ish was pretty common.

we never even reached an average attendance as high as 800 between 1979 and 1986!
This was at a time when football attendances were in what seemed at the time to be catastrophic and terminal decline.
Re: Average Attendances
I find it so hard to believe we are such a small club in the national league. The figure shocked me TBH.
How have the likes of Maidenhead improved their crowds.
Did Daggers get bigger crowds then us in the league? I don’t think so.

Re: Average Attendances
I can't be bothered to find out but maybe some of these clubs above who we are wondering why (e.g. Maidenhead , Havant ) have played the larger away supported teams and we haven't, these sort of stats are only worth analysing at the end of the season when everyone has played everyone else.BEEGONE wrote:I find it so hard to believe we are such a small club in the national league. Or just look at home supporter figures ....BEEGONE wrote:I find it so hard to believe we are such a small club in the national league. The figure shocked me TBH.

Re: Average Attendances
Average attendances at Maidenhead around the 300 mark five years ago with the team constantly struggling in the NL South.BEEGONE wrote:I find it so hard to believe we are such a small club in the national league. The figure shocked me TBH.

In the NL South title winning season started off around 400 and up to well over 1000 by the end of the season. They haven't fallen below 1000 since.
£100 season tickets and £10 entry in the NL South, up to £150 and £15 following promotion. Ground is in a very central location pretty much next to the station so no problem getting people through the door provided the results aren't terrible.
Re: Average Attendances
I think we have simply got fed up with seasonsl rhetoric that we are going to challenge for the league and play offs, only to deliver another season of abject average football. The cup runs have provided a welcome respite, but the league doesn't lie...BEEGONE wrote:I find it so hard to believe we are such a small club in the national league. The figure shocked me TBH.

Re: Average Attendances
I’ve never really understood the weight behind average gate tables. The league table matters.
Once a Bee ALWAYS a Bee
Re: Average Attendances
Doesn't really matter as we are in about the same position for both tables - near the bottom and just outside the relegation zone !Masuka wrote:I’ve never really understood the weight behind average gate tables. The league table matters.
Re: Average Attendances
Although havant were a different team, formed from amalgamation and eastleigh hampshire league not all that long ago........ Bromley have a couple of amateur cups, and peaked long before the gola league. Others on this list have complicated histories, wrexham and leyton orient second tier clubs when i was a teenagerpletch99 wrote:All three are also playing at the highest level they have ever played at (and are relatively recently promoted to this level)
