Dorchester (THL) The 5 Star Match Thread
Re: Dorchester (THL) The 5 Star Match Thread
Been having a peek at Dorchester Town FC on their history.
Nicknamed the Magpies, they play in black and white stripes and were formed in 1880.
Famous players that have appeared for the club professionally are Harry Redknapp and former Spurs, Chelsea and England star Graham Roberts. Their ground holds a very respectable 5,700 and they'll be looking forward to their visit to THL, despite playing a lot of away matches recently and near the foot of the table in their division.
Edit: The Avenue stadium holds 5,200 and they stand 16th place out of 22.

Their supporters coach leaves at 10.30am.
The rotters, why couldn't they leave a couple of hours earlier?

When we go to (and return from) our holidays near Abbotsbury, we drive past their stadium.
I've always thought about taking in a game there some time. Not to watch Barnet in a replay though!

Likewise. Drive past on the way to cricket tour in Devon, not sure the new build housing has added to the attractiveness of Dorchester either....used to be able to see the stadium, now hidden by trees.Norfolk & Chance wrote:When we go to (and return from) our holidays near Abbotsbury, we drive past their stadium.

Indeed. That new estate at that roundabout is an assault on the senses. Seems quite out of place.

Have a soft spot for Dorchester as it's the first Bees away game outside the Home Counties that I went to (at their previous ground) in 1979. The main thing I remember about the game is, after about 15 mins, a Bees player (I think it was Gary French) and two home players, one of whom was Graham Roberts, all going for the same ball. There was a collision and French was unscathed but both Dorchester players were carted off to hospital leaving them to play 75 mins with 10 men (only 1 sub in those days). We won 1-0.

I see that that game was in November. Apparently Dorchester have been playing much better recently so we can't afford to be complacent.
We struggle to score goals and can't afford to go one behind. Thinking that Harrison is the answer, even as a sub, worries me. Our defence looks solid but DC has a big job getting a strike force together which not only gets in the right places but will have a shot. EMC looks as though he's getting the hang of things but I'd like to see Barham given a chance today.

I really rate Barnham. He’s a player who can rally excite, hope to see him back today.

Hopefully big turn up on gate ticket sales not encouraging
Re: Dorchester (THL) The 5 Star Match Thread
Hope a strong side out today to keep the momentum going. We need to have similar attitude to Man City albeit I doubt we will get as many but principle applies nevertheless. Hope the club shop well stocked last visit for most before the Big Game.
