BREAKING NEWS: Martin Allen sacked by Chesterfield
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Martin Allen sacked by Chesterfield
Would of been happy if he had stayed on after last season. But he was offered good contract by
TK and he turned it down to take on the huge job at chesterfield. And reading there forum regularly his style of play. The players he has brought in. Are worse than what is happening
At our own club. So sorry he has had his time and he decided to close it. Let's keep it closed. Other wise i believe it will be another backward step.

I'd sooner stick with John Still than have MA back.
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Martin Allen sacked by Chesterfield
This club is a big enough joke as it is. MA coming back would be beyond belief

The only reason he would be invited back I suspect would be if if we were in (another) relegation dogfight. Can't argue against his credentials for that. Sadly the day to day stuff and player purchasing appear not to be amongst his strong points.

Made some quality signings for us when we last won the conference, but his time at Eastleigh and Chesterfield have been appalling. We can’t have someone back for the 6th time.... can we?Monsieur Abeille wrote:The only reason he would be invited back I suspect would be if if we were in (another) relegation dogfight. When he left us to go there I predicted it would end in tears. Sometimes there are managers who are simply just right for a certain club. Martin was a great fit for our club, if he'd have stayed I think we'd be top 6 but now is not the time to go back to him, the trouble is that TK now has a reputation for hiring and firing so not sure who we could attract?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Martin Allen sacked by Chesterfield
If Martin came back he would immediately trim the squad down to a manageable 21 or 22. At the moment Still is trying to satisfy far too many players and therefore the team is constantly being changed with no definite pattern of play evolving. For that reason alone I would have Martin back.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Martin Allen sacked by Chesterfield
Let's hope he's taken a liking for the Peak District and wants to stay up there. Lots of lower league teams in that area. He sees Barnet as a soft touch to earn himself some cash especially as since his health scare he's looking for a easy life. If he comes back to Barnet (with inevitably the 2 Muggletons!!) I'm off.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Martin Allen sacked by Chesterfield
There's no denying he only works well at Barnet.
Martin Allen's stints at Barnet - win ratio:
1st stint: 43%
2nd stint: 67%
3rd stint: 67%
4th stint: 42%
5th stint: 62%
Martin Allen's stints at other clubs - win ratio:*
Chesterfield: 21%
Eastleigh: 14%
Cheltenham: 21%
*Other clubs he's managed ignored as they don't back up my very bias and dodgy, yet entirely correct selective results.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Martin Allen sacked by Chesterfield
Would surely be prudent to stick a few quid on him returning?
I strongly feel re-re-re-re-re-reappointing MA would be a backwards step for the club, however there is a strong possibility should we lose any further ground.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Martin Allen sacked by Chesterfield
I’m in the anyone but Still club. MA has a decent management record with us and we would definitely improve results wise, but it would split the fan base further. We need to appoint someone younger with fresh ideas looking to building a team to be proud of. Daryl McMahon?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Martin Allen sacked by Chesterfield
Whilst Martin Allen has the potential to improve the clubs results short term (his stats from MCB rightly show this), this is not the direction the club should take for the future.
Please note we did try Rossi Eames as our young prodigy manager and we all know how that turned out (sadly). There is no golden answer.
MA isn't for the future but would rightly do well by us should we get sucked into the relegation zone again.

Chesterfield was not a 21% win rate
4 wins in 25 games is only 16% win rate
