Hartlepool (a) The Songs of Praise Match Thread

Post: # 260711Post Bee_Forever »

So.... Sunday sees us kicking off at ridiculous-o'clock against the monkey hangers in Bananarama National League action.

After the match was moved to 3pm on Sunday, and then 4:30pm to accommodate a meaningless England friendly, Barnet find themselves at the mercy of BT, from whom the only ology I want to hear is an apology for the complete disregard for away fans.

A 10 hour round trip awaits with only one direct train a day each way and the hope is that those hardy few making the trip will be rewarded with a strong bees display and 3 points in front of the cameras.

One thing is for sure, John Still will not want to see the bees made monkeys out of, and he will want a performance with plenty of hart and desire. It was good to see Sweeney restored to the lineup as he is the heartbeat of our side. With both sides stuck in mid table morass this will be a difficult one on the pools.

In terms of team line-up I hope that Still will persist with a similar lineup to that which started versus Bristol, although I would be tempted to play Fonguck a bit deeper to give the defence some cover. My team:-

-----------------------Cousins---------------------

-----Sweeney-------Robson------Reynolds-----

--Alexander-------------------------Johnson----

--------------Adams--------Fonguck-------------

-------------------J. Taylor------------------------

------------Coulthirst-----Duku-------------------

Subs: Matrevics, Tutonda, Bettamer, Baby Shark, Tarpey

I am doing this one by train, on the 6:40 last direct train back from Hartlepool. Just hope that there is not too much added on time!

I would probably go with Bettamer up front with Shaq, Duku is only on loan and seems to me it might not be extended. I thought Bettamer showed some lovely touches on Sunday and consistency is needed now

433 for me with Bettamer, Shaq and Tarpey. I'd keep the same midfield and Reynolds for me needs to earn his spot.

He reminded a little of Dani Lopez - let's hope he does not go all Elvis on us (the hamburger era) like Lopez did

No Josh Walker either? He has looked good albeit not the type of striker still goes for. Harrison must be close now hopefully Vilhete not too far away.
Taking in the Sunderland game day before also could be a slow day Monday next week

We have 8 fit strikers and only 4 slots. Expect Barham and possibly walker to go out

Still seems to like Walker - started ahead of Tarpey and Shaq two games in a row.

Walker had a few games September and October and looked lively, very similar to Barham. Can't work out why Sparkes came on Sunday with Tarpey on bench. With all the strikers hope Duku doesn't go back to Cheltenham. A lot of choices to be made now people coming back from injury which will give good competition for places.

I think Sparkes came on in case we got a free kick. He scored one in midweek.

This is precisely the problem with him. He's a specialist player with a very limited skillset, much like Muggleton.

How can you leave Bettamer out, it was so refreshing to see a Barnet striker with strength, confidence, and ability for once, Mo and Shaq for me.

He's brought back Cousins, you can't expect Bettamer as well! There'd be no thread if we all agreed with his team.
