Seems to be doing very well. Good feedback on twitter re his performances and had a couple of MoM awarded.

Given the pressure on our midfield resources, a bit mystifying as to why he was loaned.

The fact that even in current circumstances, Still has extended the loan, only goes to prove that he doesn't rate Shomotun any more than the previous 6 managers did and even if he'd returned, he'd have only added to the bench warmers.

IMO it's more to do with the stereotypical English manager's obsession with height and physicality than it is to do with whether he is any good or not.

I wonder why Joe Gamble's lack of height didn't put Martin Allen off him.

Maybe he simply took a gamble?

I'd wager because he was good enough.

On the flip side, there's Gambin, who was often consigned to the bench by MA, Lowe, who MA had behind Crawford and Mengerink in the pecking order, and Mauro, who MA tried to drive out of the club in a season where we were starting Hoyte at RB.

Mengerink and Crawford were both under Sir who didn't like JL's attitude allegedly, MA released both at end of 13/14 , Mengerink never even played for Martin as his last game was Duli's last game at Macclesfield when that random Alex Peterson appeared for his 1 and only game!

Bit of a sweeping generalisation.

I don't see that you can say that John Still's reason for not playing Shomotun is due to his lack of height when Jack Barham is in the team.

Shomotun repeatedly shows the same failings. He slows attacks down, holds onto the ball too long and tries to do too much by dribbling and shooting rather than passing. More recently when I've seen him he had also lost the fearlessness and willingness to try things that he had when he started, which was sad to see. He just hasn't advanced as a player since his very exciting emergence. That's why he's not getting picked. Let's hope the loan spell gives him his confidence back and he learns things so that he does make it.

I doubt we can recall him as its a loan between teams in different countries.

Also, coming over to England from Ireland was probably quite a big deal for him, having had it fail and returned to Ireland I can't imagine he'd be keen to return unless he could be confident of a change of attitude towards him.

They pretty much say their FA Cup win is down to him. Hilarious if we draw them next round... :D
