Good grief. I’m not arguing we should break any rules. I’m saying it’s a shit rule. A shit rule which will harm our club’s income and would, if applied more widely, speed the disappearance of terracing from professional football grounds.

The £5 per head reduction for each away supporter will make a negligible difference to the number of away fans attending over the season (for better or worse, away support is very price inelastic), but it will harm our club’s prospects. It will also probably cost me money via the likely closure of the South Terrace more frequently, forcing me to buy a ticket for a seat when I’d rather stand, and harming the atmosphere at the Hive even further by having the teams shooting towards an empty terrace.

An insistence on the same price for the same facilities is just and logical. Insisting that away fans in a lavish new stand with large bar, impeccable views of the pitch from any seat etc must pay the same as me, peering through the goal net on a tinny Wealdstone FC bus shelter, is shit. Especially when it undermines a major investment my club made in trying to increase its income and thereby keep up with the dozen or more clubs in this league with much bigger crowds than us.

I’m not defending the rule just challenging the odd idea raised in your first post of compounding the issue by doing something to further diminish the amount of home support.

As the club has been charging the full seated price the strange practice of denying away fans the opportunity to have the best views by limiting the use to one corner of seats is dubious. Obviously it doesn’t affect us but what is the point of giving anyone an inferior product on purpose ?

There are no obstructed views in that stand. Their seats were fine.

All fans of visiting clubs should in future be charged £15, or whatever the concessionary rate is.
No knee jerk reaction is needed re the South Stand. Keep it open and keep the price as advertised.
The Club has cocked-up. It should not compound the problem by penalising either away fans or, indeed, home fans.

The Dagenham fans make no mention of contacting the National League about this. Have they done that?

I expect that will happen if they don't get satisfaction from their email.
Expect similar communications from Braintree, Ebbsfleet and Eastleigh fans.
I can think of only two reasons for this mess, 1.ignorance and/or incompetence 2. Greed.

Interesting, mixed reaction from you all on here.

By way of update, as a result of us obviously still needing to comply with this rule, we had just 15 Salford fans in our new stand on Saturday, with around 70 in the terrace. For us, at a time when we literally dont have a pot to piss in, this hurts the club hugely, financially.

Not for me to say whether its a good or a bad rule, BUT it is nevertheless a rule that should be complied with by ALL clubs.

Won't be long before the rule is reversed in that case. What idiot thought it was a good idea?

Or the club knows what it's doing? When was the rule applied? When did the club announce ticket prices?

Rule changes are generally ratified at an AGM.
Not sure when the National League has its AGM, isn't it around late June?

But they could have better seats without there being any obvious additional cost to the club. So what was there to lose by letting them have a better experience.

I'm assuming it's easier stewarding wise. Was there a wedding on?

[/quote]I googled it :-)

Ticket prices were announced on 31st May, rules were confirmed 9th June.

This MAY be a reason. There MAY be some form of dispensation for relegated FL clubs as they may have different rules.

Despite many things the club gets wrong they normally are a stickler for rules so will be interesting to see why they don't appear to have applied them in this instance.

Aren''t they in financial difficulties ? Perhaps we shouldn't join them in a race to the bottom ?

A bit of a spurious connection considering they've been putting away supporters in the side of that stand for quite a few years and before they were relegated to the National League.

Maidenhead fans are being charged £20 (£13 concession).
The Club seem to have totally disregarded the contents of the email from the Dagenham & Redbridge Supporters Association.
