Charlie Clough departs Barnet FC
Barnet FC can confirm that Charlie Clough has left the club by mutual consent.
The defender made 59 appearances across all competitions following his arrival in January 2017.
His one and only goal in a Barnet shirt came in a 2-2 draw away to Blackpool a little over a month later.
The club would like to thank Charlie for his efforts and wish him all the very best for the rest of his career.

He had some good games for us but not many, he may have done ok for us in non league but will never know, I guess and trust John will bring in someone better.

I know he got stick but I thought he was no nonsense CB that could do a job in the conference.
Good luck to him.
Good luck to him.

I'm surprised Barnet have let him go because he would've done ok at National League level. However, I expect Stilly would rather work with players he knows.pgbee wrote:Likewise.BeesKnees wrote:I know he got stick but I thought he was no nonsense CB that could do a job in the conference.

Despite his decent track record in the NL, he was so poor last season that I'm inclined to think he's declined since then. If we get Callum Reynolds then that leaves us with a much stronger set of CBs than last year.
Re: Charlie Clough departs Barnet FC
He always looked out of his depth at league 2 level. Never fancied him. Good luck to him though.

He did a good job at this level at FGR, but if the current management don't want him best to let him go and hopefully he'll find somewhere in the near future

A good player and more then capable at NL level. Unfortunately for him MA sent him n his way, and the rest is history. Still wants a team that has unity and Clough has gone as a result. Good luck to him and the war chest he now has to further his career.

I think many at Sutton would like to see him return to Gander Green Lane.
Re: Charlie Clough departs Barnet FC
He just seemed a little bit too 'mechanical' in L2. Wasn't an improvement on Bondz as a defender. Nelson looked more mobile and he was a lot older... Might do a job somewhere in the NL, but in my view we are right to try and move on. Of course, it goes without saying that we should wish him well wherever he turns up next. A good, honest player.
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Good luck to him, good honest centre back, but am sure he can be replaced with equal or better standard.
