Carlisle (THL) The Chicken McNugget and Ryce Match Thread
So.... after the ref decided that punching someone in the face is not a foul, we find ourselves nursing a sense of injustice as we go in to a crucial league hoof (c. Jerroll) match versus our Scottish friends.
I think it is fair to say that Jamal has not lit up Brundell Park since moving there, but sadly the same can also be said of his replacement here, Nicholson.
After Franz Sweeneybauer gave away a stupid penalty versus Accy, there are some calling for him to be dropped, but given the options available this would be a rash move in my view.
I would go with the same starting XI with one change, in the expectation that Brindley does not make it.
-----------------------Ross---------------------
--Watson---Sweeney---Santos---Tutonda--
--Vilhete---Sule---------Weston--J. Taylor--
-------------Nicholls----Akinde----------------
Subs: Legge, Clough, Platovic, Fonguck, Nicholson, Akinola, Coulthirst
Here's hoping that JCR does not execute the law of the ex on us, and we can start to climb the table, and that we do not have a ref who lets the opposition get away with things Scot-Free.

No sense of injustice bee forever!!
Never a penalty I was behind the goal.
Who are the some calling for him to be dropped?
Sweeney will start best player lmo
Same team as Saturday

I would start Akinola instead of Jack Taylor.Who plays at RB is the question! So long as it's not Clough!
I love Luisma & really miss his skils!

Why the hell would you drop Sweeney because of one push (and a stamp), looks like decent solid centre back, second name on the team sheet after Akinde, but then some people been saying we should drop Akinde to the bench

I think Akinola makes a good attacking impact sub. Still can't believe Blackman used to get picked ahead of Tutonda

Sweeney must play.He was outstanding again on Saturday. However he does need to quickly learn from his mistakes! I'm sure that I heard GW in one of his interviews saying that he thought he could become a Championship centre back!

Thought Sweeney was good in the first half. Awful in the second. Cost us three points and should have been sent off.

Entirely disagree! He's not the finished product yet but already is our best current centre back & could well become even better.Give the guy a chance!BeeArmy wrote:Thought Sweeney was good in the first half. Awful in the second. Cost us three points and should have been sent off.

I can see the potential of Sweeney as a centre back. Strong physical presence, seems to read the game well. Comfortable with the ball at his feet. Just needs to cut out the little moments of petulance, like knocking the ball away. But he wasn't the only one guilty of that.
Rather than disrupt the midfield too much, i would keep Watson and Weston together and use the energy and tenacity of Mauro at RB. Akinola is a good impact player from the bench.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Spot on, he's been class since moving there, needs to work on temperament.JWTBee wrote:Entirely disagree! All this inexplicably negative talk about Sweeney, who I thought was excellent on Saturday, has deflected attention from Santos who had a poor game. He seems to have lost his edge. I'm sure he'll pick up it up again soon.

Lest we forget Santos scored twice on his debut at Leyton Orient!ETBee wrote:All this inexplicably negative talk about Sweeney, who I thought was excellent on Saturday, has deflected attention from Santos who had a poor game. He seems to have lost his edge. I'm sure he'll pick up it up again soon.
What a fabulous, memorable day that was... so much hope and optimism!

The worrying thing is Carlisle are favourites to win the game tomorrow night with most bookies.
Corals offer 13/8 Barnet, Draw 9/4, Carlisle 13/10
With the closeness of the odds, another draw is expected or a very close win for either side. If it's nerve-wracking now what's it going to be like in March, April and possibly the Chesterfield game?
