I know what you saying Nik, but that is problem, yes he would be good short term, he would put some life back into the team (would not be hard how it is at moment) but then what would happen next season? Appoint another inexperienced manager on the cheap just for another relegation battle??ape1968 wrote:Chris - he's not a long term answer but I'd much rather have him now than be relegated. You saw that performance yesterday. It was woeful from the moment the team sheet was released.
Re: Chesterfield (Away) The Scottish Fiction Match Thread
Seeing as McGhee almost certainly wouldn't stay if we were relegated to the National League, we could just as easily be "appointing another inexperienced manager on the cheap" anyway?letchbee94 wrote:I know what you saying Nik, but that is problem, yes he would be good short term, he would put some life back into the team (would not be hard how it is at moment) but then what would happen next season? Also I don't imagine McGhee is a cheap option. We might as well have someone cheap and inexperienced and just keep our fingers crossed as have someone costing more who's incompetent.

A short term boost is what we desperately need. We can't afford the luxury of thinking long term when we're in such a mess.letchbee94 wrote:I know what you saying Nik, but that is problem, yes he would be good short term, he would put some life back into the team (would not be hard how it is at moment) but then what would happen next season? Fully agree with you, Chris.letchbee94 wrote:No way should we bring Martin Allen back.
I'm a big fan of him and imo TK should have offered him more money to stay when Eastleigh came in, but he went and I think his time with the club as a manager should now be a closed book.
A lot of fans was moaning about him and wanted him out at start of last season, well most of you got your wish and this is what we got.
The club would be a laughing stock with other fans. There's no guarantee that he'd bring in the necessary improvements in January and when someone like Billericay or Leyton Orient come in with an offer with more money we know what'll happen. Four times is more than enough. Time to move on and find someone else IFMcGhee doesn't improve things.

I can't remember being laughed at by other clubs' fans as much as when we appointed McGhee to be honest. When you're being mocked by supporters of SPL clubs you know you've hit a new low.Psycho wrote:Fully agree with you, Chris.letchbee94 wrote:No way should we bring Martin Allen back.

Re: Chesterfield (Away) The Scottish Fiction Match Thread
just got back and feeling beyond caring about this shambles. First half we threatened to over run their weak defence for 20 - 25mins, any team worth their salt could have had two in that period, then we run out of ideas, passion and skill, in particular, just evaporates. No escape....we are down.
Re: Chesterfield (Away) The Scottish Fiction Match Thread
There's something clearly wrong at the club. We've spent money on players that should be performing better in the pitch but can't be arsed to do so. Who is the bad apple that is upsetting the cart? Until this conundrum is solved we're in dangerous waters. I can think of one person who seems to have been around it all, but to announce it would be pointless.
Re: Chesterfield (Away) The Scottish Fiction Match Thread
Not aware of bad apples in the squad. Rossi was unlucky but struggled due to the injuries and then struggled to get us organised and coherent once the injuries started to ease. The bad apple right now is McGhee and to be blunt I think Rossi would have set up the team far better and potentially got three points yesterday. I think we did the right thing to relieve him of his job but MM was a panic appointment and I'd rather we had held onto Rossi a little longer and made a more considered appointment.beew wrote:There's something clearly wrong at the club. Rumour has it that James Thorne is the bad apple. Complete plonker. Rossi Eames looking to leave apparently as he is very unhappy.
Re: Chesterfield (Away) The Scottish Fiction Match Thread
That's true to be fair. Only Brighton fans held him in high regard but other clubs it turned sour - Millwall, Wolves, Aberdeen and Motherwell.#Beebot wrote:I can't remember being laughed at by other clubs' fans as much as when we appointed McGhee to be honest. This is true, however Mark was only originally coming to the club as just a director of football.becbee wrote:Seeing as McGhee almost certainly wouldn't stay if we were relegated to the National League, we could just as easily be "appointing another inexperienced manager on the cheap" anyway?letchbee94 wrote:I know what you saying Nik, but that is problem, yes he would be good short term, he would put some life back into the team (would not be hard how it is at moment) but then what would happen next season? Wait - he's still here? I thought the initial plan was to keep Rossi in charge with MM as DOF. Was under the impression that there was no place for Thorne either way.gowerfan wrote:Rumour has it that James Thorne is the bad apple. Complete plonker. DOF needs to have strong contacts within the game - I don't think Thorne does and his footballing background is pretty minimal. Very slow to make big decisions in the summer.

And who appointed James Thorne and decided we needed a Head of Recruitment? TK. That's why he deserves stickgowerfan wrote:Rumour has it that James Thorne is the bad apple. Complete plonker. Rossi Eames looking to leave apparently as he is very unhappy.
