Pearson Relesed
Pearson Relesed
Pearson, Gash & Batt released, as per article on the main site. We knew about the latter two, perhaps they feel Pearson's injuries were too detrimental to keeping him here.

I knew we'd never see him play again. I think he is looking for football higher up

Re: Pearson Relesed
Huge shame about Pearson, will be a Championship player in the next two seasons if he's fit.

He is (or WAS) better the League 2. But he's done better out of the deal than we have.
Hopefully we'll get a bloody proper right back now.
There are two things I can think of - a) we don't think he's recovered from his injury or b) by activating his option he gets a big pay ruse we don't want to pay.Barnet defender James Pearson has signed a contract until the end of next season with the option of another year in the club's favour.

Re: Pearson Relesed
We need players that are fit, simples. It's not his fault, but for our only right back (after Hoyte departed) to be out for the whole season is a massive blow. We've spent the entire season picking players to "fill in" that position. We can't afford to take chances on player who might get back to 100% fitness in July. We need them all to hit the ground running. If there was any doubt as to his fitness then the club is right to let him go now. I just hope he doesn't sign for another league 2 club and bite us next year!

Re: Pearson Relesed
Batt's release was inevitable (and totally correct), Gash's sad, but Pearson's is downright wrong IMO - unless there were real mitigating circumstances. He appeared to be on his way back to fitness.
As has been said, TK and the management (?) now need to go out and find better replacements.

Not surprised and not happy about this.

Re: Pearson Relesed
We'll have to see next season how good or bad a decision releasing Pearson is.
There's no point him being our best right-back option if he will always have problems maintaining full fitness.

Re: Pearson Relesed
Shame. Pending what happens with Nelson, I thought Stephens/Johnson/Clough/Santos/Pearson would have been a great defensive unit.

Releasing three injured players. Is there something immoral about this? (Just asking).

Re: Pearson Relesed
It is possible that Pearson did not want to play for us next season and there is no point in keeping an unsettled player.
Re: Pearson Relesed
Batt got released because he is awful, Gash got released because he can't keep fit, Pearson got released because he didnt want to play for us, not because of injury. Thats my opinion

Re: Pearson Relesed
Can't see that it's immoral, after all we did only contract them to the end of the season. It is unfortunate though.hendon4bee wrote:Releasing three injured players. Is there something immoral about this? (Just asking).
As regards Pearson, presumably the club don't have faith that next season he'd be capable of playing at the standard that he was at prior to his injury. Who knows? We were not happy when Steve Kabba was given a new contract and barely played, we won't be happy of James Pearson plays against us next season and puts in a great performance. Of course, if Pearson is never the same player again, we won't think how lucky we were to let him go because we'll have forgotten all about him.

Re: Pearson Relesed
Very disappointing it would of been great if we had him in the squad he would of played well next season
Good luck to him in the future
We need to sign a good RB for next season definitely
