Amen, to that.

All it needs now is to win that lottery. Goodbye, Harrow Hornets; welcome, AFC Barnet!
Hive forever belong to Barnet.

Amen. Too much scaremongering going on. I will support the club just as QPR fans did when they moved from Queen's Park in North West London NW6, and kept the same name after moving a small distance away to Shepherds Bush in West London W12.

C'mon You Barnet Bees of The Hive!

We'd have to get it past Harrow Council first but if we can keep the floodlights on all night, every night of the week, could we not make some serious extra money from the solar panels? An easy way of increasing our wage budget.

Lol, too true. The Hive just seems too good to be true. Standard Barnet strife aye.

Careful, some nosy resident might read that and think it's a serious possibility without understanding the science behind why it wouldn't work! :p

Went to the Hive for the first time on Tuesday. Overall, quite impressed, West Stand looks great, terraces are not as 'pokey' as I thought. Not impressed with catering in home terrace, sausage/bacon/egg rolls or hotdogs? What about pies, burgers, chips and such like? Not impressed at all. Annoying that you cannot get into the home terrace from the other end, especially if you walk down from the Canons Park end, not a major problem, but annoying. Not a lot of atmosphere but only 1200 people there, would love to see it with 4-5000 in it.

Hi all
My first visit yesterday. Sat in the West Stand
Overall quite impressed. Was a bit difficult getting into the stadium through the scanners. Half of them didnt work and on the ones that did a lot of people had to get someone over to help them through with the master key.
Looking forward to going again

Watford are planning to build a stand like the West Stand, but with steps at the front. Capacity given as 2600, with the same company that built the West Stand (Slick Seating) designing Watford's stand, too.

http://www.harrowtimes.co.uk/archive/20 ... _stadium_/

The interesting thing for me is the figures. assuming at that point the 11mil is the total spend then my best estimates are:
Wealdstone £300k
Public money 1.8mil
Loan to Wealdstone investors 3mil
BarnetFC 4.25mil
Grants to BFC £1mil
Harrow council from sale of Edgware ground £750k

And thats before the Stadium was actually built last year.

Quick update.
Last week Harrow Council approved an extension to the East Stand to house the Medical centre. It's a single story extension on the Camrose Ave end with external Aircon units.

This week Hive have lodged an appeal against the planning refusal.

This may get a little confusing. If I understand it correctly they had appealed against the refusal of what had already built and the enforcement notice to pull it down. If the appeal was won then what had been built could remain but in order to complete the project they needed to appeal against the original planning refusal within 6 months.

The planning inspectorate have agreed to hear this at the same time as the original appeal and if successful then the South underhill stand can move and the rear extension of the west stand be built.
