So do I - they were a great team but the standard of the opposition was a lot lower than now.

Re: Sal£ord (Hive) The Farce of '92 Match Thread

Aside from their second, all the goals were top quality. The standard of football in the Conference now is light years ahead from what it was in the days of Bazza and Stan

Re: Maidstone United (THell) The Made of Stone Match Thread

We were poor but I'm very surprised that Maidstone are near the bottom as they looked a half decent team. They did not give us a sniff all match - very well organised and hard working. There was often no option available when we had the ball. They closed us down and pressed really well. However, we ...

Re: Braintree (THL) The Any Old Iron Match Thread

We should really have absolutely buried them. It looked like it would be a cricket score at one stage in the first half. Josh Walker was excellent and tore them apart. I don't know how we let them back in but their second was a very good goal. Having said that, it was a very entertaining game and st...

Re: Shuttle Bus at Risk..

The bus has been poorly advertised and they have also chopped and changed the route, which has not helped. I'd be sorry to see it stop and probably would not go to games as often. The outward bus is often virtually empty though but it can be quite full coming home, although this has not been the cas...

Re: Wrexham (Away) The Match Thread Savaging Like A Dead She

Luigi is the physio not the fitness coach , I would suggest whoever is organising the amount/type of training is more to blame , the physio just tries to rehab the players If lots of players were getting muscular injuries e.g. pulled hamstrings you could possibly blame it on the training regime. Do...

Re: Maidenhead (THL) The Match Thread which maid some noise

What is encouraging is that we can win 5 on the bounce with so many players who would probably be first choice missing. Strength in depth will make a big difference as the season goes on and this will be to our advantage. The likes of Harrogate may struggle to sustain their form when they pick up in...

Re: Fan Ownership

Its a myth to say that attendances have plummeted since we moved to the Hive. If you look at the stats for the seasons just after we got relegated in 01/02 and 02/03 when average attendances were 1456 and 1341, thats actually probably not far off where we'll end up this season if we finish mid table...

Re: Ebbsfleet (THL) The Brylcream Match Thread

You have to sympathise with TK. Twice in recent times he has allowed a splurge in the transfer market and twice it has gone horribly wrong. If he had spent zilch in the last two years on bringing new players in, its debatable that we might be no worse off then we are now.

Re: Hindsight is a wonderful thing

This hits the nail on the head. I think we need to be patient. Four games is nothing, especially with a completely new group of players and way of playing. I'm sure that many of the signings - Elito included - will come good in time. I can't help but recall the abuse that was heaped on Nicholls when...

Re: Aldershot (Away) The Opening Shots Match Thread

With all these new players, it may take a while for the team to gel fully. It is also a long season as well. We've also got a number of players to return, including Tarpey who should be good for a few goals. Its also positive that we did not concede. We did not do that often last season.

Re: Price of Football - L2 Profits

Looking at some of those figures and the debts that some clubs who have since go promoted are running, I will not be sympathetic if they go belly up. They are investing in a standard of player that they can't really afford. Its a huge gamble - some would said reckless. Some of them have gone bust be...
